webmail for what? ncsu? i can't imagine how you're having trouble here. go to 'add account', other, add mail account, enter the data..hit save..it'll bring up a screen with IMAP and POP at the top. under IMAP enter all the information found here:http://www.ncsu.edu/resnet/email/outlook/oxp_pc.phpanddone.

This is for a computer.. if someone could give me explicit directions on how to do it on an IPHONE that would help a lot.

Hi cmtruesdNC State only offers instructions for specific email programs:http://www.ncsu.edu/resnet/email/iPhone, unfortunately, is not one of them. Calling into the NC State helpdesk and asking for help configuring your iPhone for webmail probably won't work either, given they probably have no clue how email on an iPhone works. The screenshots ScHpEnXeL are the closest anybody has right now. That being said, if you are unfamiliar with the technical terms, might want to seek additional help from elsewhere. Many of us are alumni and would probably do it for a sixpack of beer or bottle of wine. However, that doesn't look like a viable option for you. If you know anybody in your dorm or in one of your classes that has a bit of technical knowledge, ask for their help. All else fails, go ask for help around EB2 on Centennial Campus ... that's the Computer Science building and somebody there could probably figure it out. (I've had random people bump into me a few time in old-school Withers and helped out when asked).

So wait, they have a group of presumably college aged kids interested enough in technology to work a helpdesk and not a single one of them has an iPhone or iPod Touch?I don't believe that for one second.]
12/30/2009 8:00:48 PM
help desk is full time staff.I’d bet they would know how to configure an iPhone for email.although they’re probably closed now...[Edited on December 30, 2009 at 8:11 PM. Reason : ]

open up web browser and go to web mail

^^^^Bullshit. Don't act like a jackass. Just because you majored in computer science doesn't make everyone else an idiot in regards to technology.I know a bunch of people that work at helpdesk's around NCSU's various departments and a majority of them use the latest tech. Lots of them have iphones, droids, touch/hero phones. I seriously doubt they wouldn't know how to sync your mail. It'd just be a matter of if they cared or not. um it sounds like Perlith's response was the least asshole-ish in this thread. what is your problem? there's no jackassery in that post.

so what's wrong with sexpencil's post? I don't have an iPhone but I don't see anything that would be wrong with it...
12/31/2009 9:43:30 AM
yeah, that one was the most helpful. i was really only considering those after the question was answered.
12/31/2009 10:21:03 AM
yeah i was gonna do screenshots of my setup but it really shouldnt be necessary. all of the fields on the iphone match the pic i posted from outlook setup almost word for word. and 90% of it is just filling in your name anyways..
12/31/2009 10:53:20 AM
"I seriously doubt they wouldn't know how to sync your mail."I think part of my post got misinterpreted by the more technical crowd. When I stated "no clue", I did NOT imply technical knowledge. I implied SUPPORT. I'd agree / wager a good guess the technical knowledge is there, and likely there are some folks who have figured it out. However, the ability to SUPPORT such a setup is not. I could be dead wrong on this, and somebody prove me otherwise and help this individual out if I am wrong.^If you have your own website, you may be able to draw some traffic and ad revenue there with such instructions.

If you are hot, one of the dude here will slobber over the chance to come fix it for you.
12/31/2009 12:51:04 PM
^^ Yeah I misinterpreted that, my bad. Then I went into defensive/internet-bs mode.
