message_topic.aspx?topic=520699Old one from 2008 was too old to post in..so, here's a new one for this year.I need some parts for a Revo--mainly spur gear (metal one preferable..I'm tired of destroying the things) and an exhaust coupler..Where can I go in Raleigh to get parts? I went two places yesterday that I found on google and both were closed w/"for lease" signs in the window . There's a nice place I usually go in High Point but I've been staying in Raleigh a lot lately so I'm trying to find a new place..Any ideas why I keep busting exhaust couplers? I've been through three lately..[Edited on May 23, 2009 at 11:14 AM. Reason : asf]

I've got a Four Star .40 ARF, an O.S. .52 4-stroke, and a Futaba radio sitting in the garage just waiting to be assembled as soon as I move out of my friend's house into my new house. Also have a Matrix .40 ARF and a Goldberg Edge 540 ARF, a Supertigre .51 2-stroke, a Supertigre .90 2-stroke (with Pitts-style muffler), and an O.S. 1.20 4-stroke. I'll build those 2 airplanes sometime if I get bored or tear up the Four Star. Probably sell all three of those engines and buy a .70 4-stroke (for the Matrix) and a 1.50-1.80 4-stroke for the Edge. Need to get another radio or two, as well.

Where did you go in Raleigh? It's been a while but a few years ago there were only Hobby Masters up in N Raleigh that was ok but pricey, some tiny shop that specialized in Heli's over in the abandoned grocery store strip mall off 64/Laura Duncan Rd intersection, and Hungate's (bare bones generic stuff as far as RC goes). AFAIK thats pretty much it in Raleigh proper. Used to go to Toy Town in downtown Fuquay if I needed some parts for the E or T Maxx quick, but as usual online/ebay is your best bet.[Edited on May 23, 2009 at 10:55 PM. Reason : .]

hobby masters was one of them. i found a review online from late february 2009 so they must have shut down recently (assuming they didn't just move or something)..not sure on the other one

Hobby Mastershttp://www.hobby-masters.com6300 Creedmoor Rd # 126Raleigh, NC 27612(919) 870-1121Yeah, looks like their site is shut down, too. The few times I was in there, they seemed to make most of their money doing repair/modding services for helis and trucks/cars.The other is was at the far edge of this strip mall, right beside a car wash but in the grocery store parking lot side.http://tinyurl.com/q8pvax[Edited on May 24, 2009 at 12:10 AM. Socan anyone answer my question?WHERE CAN I GET PARTS IN RALEIGH FOR A REVO???I really hate ordering everything off eBay.. I'd much rather pay a little more, get my parts right then and support a local business
5/24/2009 12:13:26 PM
sorry I'm back from work now (and finished watching the Indy 500)There are two places:-Hobby Masters on Creedmoor rd about 1.5 miles north of Crabtree -ToyTown in downtown Varina, Fuquay Varina. http://www.toytownhobbyshop.comBoth will have parts on the shelf, with about the same no of parts.Pep Boys is starting to sell Traxxas parts, but entry level electric trucks and some hop ups. ----------------------when Winn Dixie closed, it killed the strip mall in Apex. The owner of Apex R/C hobbies decided not to continue. It was a hobby for him to have the store, and was kinda being burned out by it too.http://www.towerhobbies.com always has Traxxas stuffthe store in Fuquay also sets up a track on Friday nights with a good crowd [Edited on May 24, 2009 at 5:07 PM. WOW I had NO idea. That is very surprising. Dang sign of the times I suppose. I have to admit I haven't even looked at my r/c stuff since October.
5/24/2009 5:09:08 PM
hell, hobby masters closed? I need a ring for an OS .90.least y'all saved me the trip.
5/24/2009 7:58:18 PM
yup.. store was empty and had a "for lease" sign up as of friday
5/24/2009 10:56:58 PM
i kinda miss my t-maxx sometimes. my backyard would be so perfect for it.
5/24/2009 11:22:06 PM
So, this place came up on the Traxxas website for authorized dealers of Traxxas trucks.. any idea if they keep many parts in stock?
5/25/2009 12:55:23 PM
it's a chain mall crafts/hobby/toy store. They generally stock a thin selection of a lot of different stuff. Your best bet is online.
5/25/2009 1:15:52 PM
ah..alright. i'll just go to the store in high point then tomorrow after work. i work like 10 mins from there so it's easier than online.they have anything i've ever wanted there
5/25/2009 1:28:00 PM
Hungates won't have anythingI work next doorand I used to work there before they became a toy store. I don't think there is a single Traxxas product there anymore
5/25/2009 6:43:19 PM
You don't seem to read the current posts very well.
5/25/2009 8:54:43 PM
How can I reach theees keeeeds?
5/25/2009 11:07:12 PM
sorry making sure everybody got the fact i worked there once upon a time.sigh. I haven't touch my stuff, like to sell it but won't get much $ for it all. My nephew just turned 5 and I think I will make some 3 cell battery packs for the tc4 and let him drive it around. Paint up a nascar body for him or something.oh and "I misunderstood the rules......"[Edited on May 26, 2009 at 11:38 AM. Reason : cartman]

6/13/2009 7:48:39 PM
well i've pretty much decided to sell all my stuff. haven't touched it in over half a year now. sigh.
6/13/2009 8:42:16 PM
Lemme know if you're serious about selling.I'd be interested.
6/13/2009 10:44:18 PM
Anybody want an RS Propulse with a shit ton of NIB extra parts? motors, shocks, tires, everything. like 4 of each.
6/15/2009 9:39:42 PM
why is every fucking hobby shop out of bussness. take these fucking vidya games away from the fucking kids and make them build a fucking erector set already
6/15/2009 10:55:31 PM
it's kids like you that got all the cool shit banned.
6/15/2009 11:36:21 PM
90% of hobby shop owners I ever met were assholes. I think it has something to do with getting into a money-losing business and then seeing all the fun squeezed out of something you used to enjoy.
6/15/2009 11:37:38 PM
^ yeah youre right about that even the "magic the gathering" dudes at hungates in the mall suck. my car just needs shafts and a trans. to be done. cant wait
6/15/2009 11:51:06 PM
its a money losing business. I would open one if I won the lottery and would let NCSU students run it how they wish and come in every once in a while. I mean I'd have to win powerball there is TOO much competition online. I mean honestly a part IS a part, and you can get stuff all over the place online for little cost. Ironically there are only a handful of distributors for hobby shops. The biggest, Great Planes, also owns Towerhobbies.com so they are the same people.Personally I have just gotten out of the hobby and have taken up running and biking like I used to do. I can't afford the time and money to do everything, so that is my reason for getting out. Plus no more racing anymore too. I'll probably keep ONE car though just to have.
6/16/2009 7:41:36 AM
i love RC cola
6/21/2009 9:30:48 AM
^^yea, the ONLY place i've been where they stay nice is the place in high point. i think they keep a high enough volume of people coming in to actually make money, though.
6/21/2009 10:39:50 AM
Yeah, i've been going to KC Hobby in High Point (actually it's in Archdale) for at least 10-11 years now. Always have a good selection of stuff.Anyone remember Atlantic Coast R/C off of Boeing Dr. in Greensboro...across from the airport. That was always my favorite track. It was indoors in a huge industrial warehouse. Also, there was the Racers Edge in Danville VA...King R/C (In King, of course)...Used to be an indoor track in Level Cross as well that I went to for a while.
6/21/2009 11:54:09 AM
yeah, KC's prices are good too.. little parts are comparable enough to online prices that isn't worth waiting to order them online
6/21/2009 1:51:11 PM
man just think of the $1000s, yes thousands I have spent on the hobby in the past 7 years.
6/21/2009 6:24:33 PM
^I definitely hear you on that...
6/21/2009 8:12:57 PM
I think I've spent about a grand this year haha.. Just on the Revo really. I need to get a new steering servo and decent receiver/controller combo but just haven't wanted to spend the cash since I'm living in Cary at an apt complex so I really can't drive it around (nitro). Thought about selling it for an electric one..those brushless models are insane
6/21/2009 9:00:14 PM
You mean in$ane
6/21/2009 11:48:50 PM
tex$ane?
6/27/2009 11:22:47 PM
Moved to upstate NY..a couple of technicians at the plant I work at got me hooked.I bought a small Nitro RC carA co worker has lots of land so I spent the day yesterday helping him expand his current RC course. If any of you guys are in the neighborhood make it out monday night...nothin like drinking beer and running a RC car.
6/28/2009 12:23:55 PM
my neighbors have one that i am about to take out with my 12 guage next time it comes in my yard, its annoying as hell
6/28/2009 8:43:17 PM
combo breaker
6/28/2009 8:48:08 PM
no, there is a locked one screwing me up
6/30/2009 7:35:05 AM
well I might not be selling as much as I thought. With moving into a smaller place and rent/utilities being about $300 less a month, I can probably hold on to some stuff now. We shall see. I'll trim some of the racing stuff and probably keep 2 cars running and my first car for sentimental value- shelf queen. Depends on how cool new roommates are with it though. I'll be living on a busier street so no testing and tuning in the front yard though
7/4/2009 5:08:18 AM
do it on the roof
7/5/2009 6:17:27 PM
couldn't get the gears to line up right on my revo so i was pulling the engine off to see wtf was wrong. motor mount was broke in half . oops hahaordered another one and a steel spur gear so that hopefully fixes that.any recommendations on a new steering servo? still using the stock one and it's pretty weak
7/5/2009 6:20:11 PM
they need an rc shop around here
7/7/2009 11:58:52 AM
I've got a Revo 3.3 (5308) I'm needing to get rid of. Just put a new motor mount and spur gear on. Everything else is basically stock as well. Throttle servo is aftermarket but nothing too great or anything.Looking to get $300 OBO. I've ran just over 1/2 a gallon through it. I'll post some pics tomorrow.
7/11/2009 12:38:36 AM
