I looked at a 2003 Suzuki aerio SX with 47K miles. Priced at 6350. Anyone have any experience with these? I used to drive around an old suzuki sidekick that you couldn't kill. Is this an ok deal? Any other suggestions for hatchbacks? (looking at older Golf's or subarus)

get a golf, fuck the rest

I don't have any experience with suzuki cars personally, but I've seen lots of very new looking suzuki cars being parted out on craigslist. Probably snapped timing belts. I like hatchbacks in general...a car is useless if you can't carry a washing machine in it...or on it.
4/4/2009 11:18:12 PM
the sidekick motor was in fact indestructible
4/5/2009 1:20:10 AM
you should be able to get the suzuki for less than $5k

I had a 88.5 Samurai and that thing was bullet-proof. I'm not under the impression that the newer Suzuki's are anywhere near that reliable.
4/5/2009 11:02:44 AM
very valid point

I drive a Chevy Aveo5. Fun car and extremely affordable.

i drive a and love the space and quickness.

^^ I was looking at an aveo. Have you had any issues with yours? I've read a few reviews that said they were a bit of trouble.
4/6/2009 1:02:01 AM
no, it drives great for me. Of course 0-60 is going to take a bit, it is a 4 cylinder after all. I bought the 07 model, new. So it is probably still newish for any problems to arise. It has about 11,840 miles on it right now. When I was researching it, people kept saying it sucks in the ice and snow. So I just don't drive in the snow, problem solved.]

there are >10 used cars that are better vehicles, will last longer, and are cheaper than a new aveo.

^^^ haha i wish it was a viggen. 2001 Saab 9-3 SE, before that it was a 1997 Saab 900 SE... as i said, utilitarian meets luxury/sport.
4/6/2009 11:21:18 AM
^Brandon has a thing for SAABs. Why, for the love of God, I dunno.Shit, I'd own one. Old school 9000.
4/6/2009 11:32:35 AM
^ Better start stockpiling transmissions now so you'll be able to keep it running when you finally get one. I owned a 1998 900. Twas a fun car.
4/6/2009 11:39:52 AM
You can't fit a washing machine in a Sob.
4/6/2009 11:42:08 AM
lol someone bragged about an aveoitaldesign FAIL
4/6/2009 11:57:52 AM
^^ I'm pretty sure you can. You might have to tie down the hatch.

^if you mean a 0-60mph time comparable to an 11sec car, then no. If you mean a 0-60mph time compared to a mid/low 14-second family sedan (which is very respectable), then there's not THAT much of a difference imo.no i'm not talking about beatup old 5SFE camrys

4/6/2009 8:30:09 PM
^^ no not really, but come to think of it, some mid '80s 924/924S are faster than modern day hatches/sedans. anything with a 7.x 0-60 isn't exactly slow, but I also wouldn't call it fast either (IMO). There are even some vehicles with v6's making more than 160hp that take longer than 8 seconds to reach 60mph. I was just thinking of a nice hatch. I really liked the sportiness of the 924/944, though the hatches don't provide much utility (while they are long and wide, it lacks depth).
4/6/2009 8:52:07 PM
I think the Vibe, Matrix and Mazda 5 would all be tougher vehicles than the suzuki, although a bit pricier.
4/6/2009 10:21:54 PM
bought for $5,500. 0-60 in 6.8, 135mph top speed, 30mpg on highway, 2600lbs. Great in snow, pretty capable on mud/dirt (as evidenced this past wknd, lol) and fun on the track. With seats folded down has held 7 tires/wheels and 2 mountain bikes (not at same time). Fits 2 mtn bikes in trunk with seats up if you take off the wheels.Hatchbacks are VERY capable and versatile cars They just don't really make them like that used to. A new Civic Si has comparable performance but weighs 300lbs more and is a coupe.

lol, actually 9 my friend. But after 140,000 miles (that I put on the car) with things failing only due to old age and never broke down I think you can say I've gotten well over my money's worth.
4/6/2009 11:50:59 PM
is that a GSR too?
4/7/2009 12:06:22 AM
certainly did. i'm just saying he can get something like that for much cheaper now. i dont consider an integra to be a good hatchback though.kind of glitchs into it
4/7/2009 12:22:03 AM
I wish I had a brand new car, so far all I gots is this hatchback, and everywhere I go yo I gets laughed atI wish I was a little bit taller, I wish I was a baller, I wish I had a girl who looked good I would call herWish I had a rabbit in a hat with a bat and Six-fo' impala

ok. thanks. Just checking to make sure it wasn't something actually serious like future engine problems or something.I don't have any of those 'issues', except looking like a ped-egg appearance.
4/9/2009 6:46:48 PM
well, in that thread, i was mostly bitching about that particular vehicle as far as cd player and power windows/locks... i'm sure it's available as an option.Consumer reports ranked it the lowest in the under $20k sedan class.. FWIW[Edited on April 9, 2009 at 6:52 PM. Reason : asfd]

you know what? i had no idea how much one of those shitcans cost. I paid like $120 a week to rent it.and i was ripped off. GM should be embarrassed to have one of their logos on that car (especially considering they didn't really make it)Then again, i doubt it's much worse than any other GM vehicle...
4/12/2009 8:54:26 AM
Yeah that is the sad part. I agree with you. You shouldn't even put your name on a product that is sub par.
4/12/2009 9:13:48 AM
