Or

The Worst Car I've Ever Driven

And I used to drive an '82 plymouth reliant K car. That was a better driving experience than this.

is that a rental or something you actually bought?

haha, just a rental while the 4runner gets pretty much the whole drivers' side body replaced.

I'm a cheap bastard, so i got the cheapest weekly rental i could find. $154/week including taxes.

no power windows or locks
no cd player
it's louder than our diesel
for such a tiny car it only gets around ~25mpg
the whole damn car rattles every time i hit a bump or pothole
i'm fairly certain that what would be a fender bender in any other vehicle would be a fatality in this thing.
it looks like a ped-egg.

My wife was driving it on the morning of the snowstorm and parked it on its side in a ravine.

what kind of crappy insurance do you have that doesn't pay for a rental car? or hell, even most dealerships have free loaner programs now for most brands, though the fleets are limited and it's first come/first serve.

hope your wife is okay, but tell her ass to stay home in the future. those of us that can actually drive in the snow don't want to get tangled up in something like that.

whoa man, that's crazy. at least no one was hurt.

so everything is fine after being on it's side for a while? i would imagine oil or other stuff would be all over the place or in places that you don't want.

snow tires next time?

yeah, i'm sure the engine was probably hydrolocked with oil. no big deal though, just pull the plugs, crank it over a few times, put them back in and good to go. it'll just smoke like a bitch for a little while.

i don't think snow tires are the issue here.

That MLK weekend I was in Boone and in the mountains. I was driving around at night while it was snowing in a Acura TL with pretty bald tires . Glad I didn't get into a wreck with all those turns and hills.

^^^^

I always decline those extras. This is the first insurance claim i've ever made in 15 years of driving. over that time, i'm still ahead on the rental car coverage. Hell if it weren't for being married, I would only have liability coverage on our vehicles.

She's a doctor in residency, and they don't get to stay home. They even chewed her out for not coming in even after she told them she was in an accident (fuck UNC).

^^^,^^

yeah, she was going so slow the air bags didn't even deploy. The mechanic confirmed that the engine was definitely hydrolocked.

snow tires would not have helped here. there was a patch of ice under the snow. I hit the same patch when i drove out to where she was, only I knew that it was coming. Hell, even the wrecker couldn't get the vehicle out until the snow/ice melted some, the winch was just dragging it towards my car.

Glad your wife is ok but...I read this...

before seeing the photos and was thinking she literally parked it some where and got hit by someone else...then saw the pics and loled!

^I have found that my blizzaks work great, snow or patch of ice. But I also have the AWD in addition to that to thank.

Blizzaks are money on the ice!!!!

or so I've heard. I've never lived anywhere that justified buying snow tires

My fiancee is about to enter residency (we won't know where until March 17th), and I'm very familiar with this...not looking forward to the residency years. Hopefully I can get a non-travel job so I can take her to work on days like that.

^^^I've had them since my STi days. Was up in PA and snowed in while I had to drive to NYC for a doctors appointment that day... which is the only reason i really got them that day. But now that I own a set...I think I'll buy another when these wear out. They definitely come in handy in the winter for my ski trips.

in no way whatsoever do you need snow tires to not wind up on your side in that amount of snow

lol, snow tires on an awd car in nc is like super swampers on a truck in nyc.

this might top the quad turbo thing.

^lol? really, you didn't read?

1) I go skiing quite often
2) Falken Azenis in the mountains on snow/ice = bad idea
3) read the previous post I made as to how I ended up with snow tires in the first place

and speaking from experience on Falken Azenis...AWD may as well be NoWD when it comes to snow/ice because unless I'm going downhill or on a perfectly leveled surface...I will not be moving anywhere until the snows melt.

Doesn't matter many 'wheel drive' you have...it makes no difference if you don't have the right tires for the job.

you bought your tires when you needed to get from PA to NYC

he's talking about NC

i'm pretty sure after three winters up here, two winters where I was commuting 25-30+ minutes on clean days, i could drive any vehicle, with any tires, in the snow thats in that picture of BDig's sideways car

folks up here always laugh about how you people drive in the snow down in the south, but i always remind them people actually die when you get an inch or two of snow

and the biggest reason is probably that most of you think changing your tires is more important than changing your driving style

You've probably also seen snow more than twice in your life, which is not the case for my wife, so take your fat ass out of here and troll somewhere else.

azenis are garbage in snow. rsxtypes is right. i couldn't even move a 2000lb 70hp FWD civic for crap.

I've driven a full size dodge caravan around Wisconsin and Toronto in late December / early January with about 10000times less effort.

^^^^^that's the most pitiful justification i've ever heard. i've heard better reasoning for park bench spoilers on the back of civics. come on. i mean, i could care less if you want to ride around on snow tires, but don't try to tell us there's any real valid reason for it.
