Think this year will be a bust also for one of the worst #1 picks ever? Or is he gonna break out and have the best season ever for a DE. Which he is pretty much going to have to do to not make taking him #1 look like a mistake.
8/14/2007 4:16:25 PM
it will be tough to excel in Houston but best of luck to Mario. It is pretty hard to argue that it wasn't a Ryan Leaf like first pick.]
8/14/2007 4:23:17 PM
Well considering Ryan Leaf didn't get chosen with the #1 pick, there really isn't much to argue anyway.
8/14/2007 4:24:05 PM
So this guy is saying that he's a worse #1 pick than Tim Couch? What a retard.
8/14/2007 4:24:53 PM
Never said he was a worse pick than Couch. I simply stated ONE OF THE WORST. That in no way puts order to other failed #1 picks.
8/14/2007 4:26:13 PM
no this fag is just trying to troll the board on an OLD BEATEN DOWN RANT that never gets anywhereyou should kill yourself
8/14/2007 4:27:17 PM
It must be irritating to not have stats from Mario to back it up. And the whole "Well the Texans are a terrible team" argument doesn't fly either.
8/14/2007 4:28:26 PM
I am surprised you even know who Williams is since he isnt Walter Peyton, Emmitt Smith, Lawrence Taylor or Joe Montana
8/14/2007 4:28:52 PM
Its easy to know who he is. They talk about him being a bust on PTI, ATH, and Sports Center all the time.
8/14/2007 4:29:33 PM
Reggie Bush led the Saints...not Brees...it was all Bush...and Bush scored all the goalline TDs, not McAllister...and the Saints beat the Bears in the NFC title gameand the Texans are much better than the Saints if the Saints didnt have Bush...Bush is just that good...its a factoh shit i just thought of something...with Vick not in the league this season the Vick/Bush ESPN hype is ALL going to to go Bush now [Edited on August 14, 2007 at 4:30 PM. 8/14/2007 4:30:28 PM
^you forgot to ask one more questionWas Reggie Bush the best rookie on his team last year?
8/14/2007 4:31:05 PM
Reggie didn't go #1.See, when you don't go #1, and you don't get picked over obviously better choices, you don't have to deal with as much when you are in fact, a bust. Not that Bush is a bust, he has more than held his own for the #2 pick. And Young has also at #3.[Edited on August 14, 2007 at 4:32 PM. Reason : .]
8/14/2007 4:31:15 PM
I admit, hes no Brock Berlin
8/14/2007 4:31:49 PM
he should've gone #0 which is higher than #1 because he is literally the reincarnation of all deities from all religionseven though that bitch can't even outrun a Pepsi machine
8/14/2007 4:32:14 PM
He went #2, and pick #3 had a better season than he did.I guess he was a huge bust.
8/14/2007 4:32:21 PM
No, the Saints already had a GREAT QB in Brees. There would have been no point to take Young at #2. However, the Texans had no great RB or QB. Which is very evident at this point.[Edited on August 14, 2007 at 4:33 PM. Reason : .]

8/14/2007 4:33:57 PM
Rivers was a bust, his stats from his rookie year were laughable!
8/14/2007 4:34:10 PM
He didn't go #1 either, and he didn't get chosen over obvious better choices. At this point in time, Mario is a bust. Perhaps his 2nd season can change that, but its highly doubtful. He will never live up to the hype, and mistake of being taken #1.[Edited on August 14, 2007 at 4:36 PM. Reason : .]

Fine then faggotRivers Palmer was a bust, his stats from his rookie year were laughable!
8/14/2007 4:37:24 PM
QBs being taken #1 are nowhere near the same as a DE being taken #1. There is a reason that defensive players RARELY go #1. They aren't that valuable, and you can trade down to get them. There was absolutely NO reason to take Mario #1.Its fine though. You guys support your past players, great. But there is a difference in supporting them, and being blind to the truth. A truth that everyone else can see and talks about, yet NCSU fans are blind to it.[Edited on August 14, 2007 at 4:41 PM. Reason : .]

Oh it's MacGyver...And I still agree that Bush or Young should have gone #1. Actually, in hindsight the move looks evey worse IMO considering they gave up on their QB "of the future [and present]"[Edited on August 14, 2007 at 4:43 PM. Reason : bush gonna be a stud this year...]
8/14/2007 4:42:01 PM
^^Mario has the hype of being taken #1. When you get taken #1 there is always hype, no matter how good or bad you are. And Bush is hyped up, and so far has lived up to it pretty well. He didn't totally wow, but he didn't dissapoint either, something that Mario does in every aspect of the Texans he is involved with.
8/14/2007 4:44:19 PM
Running backs aren't that valuable either there guy, which is why they also are rarely taken #1http://www.nfl.com/draft/history/onesI count 2 de's drafted and 0 rb's drafted #1 in the past 10 years. They are at least as valuable as RB's, unless you have someone like LT.
8/14/2007 4:44:34 PM
Exactly, Mario will have to have a better career than LT to not be a bust. Something that is just not going to happen.

8/14/2007 4:49:35 PM
I know, and thats why you take a QB with that pick. Nobody is really saying Bush should have been #1, but he would have been a better pick than Mario, and obviously Young was the top player who should have been taken by the Texans.
8/14/2007 4:51:28 PM
^^^What about the fact that Bush was the consensus #1 pick. And he's not A QB.Thus would have been at least as terrible of a choice as Williams. Are you backpedaling now to say Young should have been picked #1, when you were fellating Bush constantly before the draft?[Edited on August 14, 2007 at 4:52 PM. seriously why did you feel the need to make TheTuck, TheTuck2, TheTuck3 AND TheTuck4? parents buy you those names with your boat?

8/14/2007 4:58:07 PM
^^^ Yeah, I do too, and I have since before the draft. You haven't though, and are only changing your tune now so you can troll more effectively.IMO as far as #1 picks go, Young > Willaims > Bush.[Edited on August 14, 2007 at 4:58 PM. Reason : ]
8/14/2007 4:58:30 PM
I guess I really don't have room to talk shit since its been a long time since someone from Miami went #1, but it would just be nice to see some fans admit one of their players was a terrible choice and is a bust.^What are you talking about "changing my tune"? Nowhere in this thread did I say Bush should have gone #1 over Young.[Edited on August 14, 2007 at 5:00 PM. Reason : .]

As it stands RIGHT NOW Houston fucked up. Of course Williams will have a better year next year. The only way it could get worse would be a season ending injury. He will improved steadily. /thread
8/14/2007 5:02:07 PM
Great point, I guess his season, baring injuries can't really get worse. Could you imagine if he had under 4 sacks?
8/14/2007 5:02:57 PM
It is Mario Williams's fault he was taken #1 over Bush. That fucking asshole!!!!! [Edited on August 14, 2007 at 5:04 PM. Reason : tt]

8/14/2007 5:04:50 PM
Nobody has ever claimed or said it was his fault. The Texans made the mistake of drafting him #1, a mistake which was admnitted pretty much considering the GM that drafted Mario was fired months later.I am neither Theeffice, or Mcgyver. Is it even possible to have 2 accounts on here? I thought you could only register with your unity address?[Edited on August 14, 2007 at 5:07 PM. Reason : .]
8/14/2007 5:05:34 PM
the Texans also made the mistake in 2001...of picking a QUARTERBACK....INSTEAD of a DEFENSIVE END
8/14/2007 5:07:38 PM
After all the backlash against the Mario and the Texans for drafting him, expectations are much lower this year. He's also healthy. I predict 9 sacks and improvement as a run-stopper.
