I'll be pulling for Wisconsin as my "2nd team" this seasonespecially if State shuts the bed early

Apparently, big boy football schools are fine with letting a 3-year starter come in and compete for a starting job in the fall.Maybe this will kill Wisconsin's team chemistry!!! Little do they know the perils of adding a record-breaking, experienced QB to your roster.[Edited on June 27, 2011 at 8:08 PM. Reason : ^Add in the Lo Charles coverage, and NCSU is dominating ESPN]
6/27/2011 8:07:41 PM
Now we just need a story on Gottfried or another Yow/williams remark and we can really cover ESPN
6/27/2011 8:11:09 PM
^^ haha, ST post of the year
6/27/2011 8:16:43 PM
So all the worst Sports Talkers are against TOB on this oneMaybe learn not to be so short-sighted, shitheads[Edited on June 27, 2011 at 8:17 PM. Reason : In fairness, jaybee wasn't there when I clicked reply]
6/27/2011 8:17:25 PM
I'm inclined to lock this thread since his decision has been made and this will serve to be is a hate/bash RW/TOB thread. Feel free to talk about RW here:message_topic.aspx?topic=611298&page=3Unless I get any legit objections to it, I'll lock this one tomorrow.[Edited on June 27, 2011 at 9:24 PM. Reason : oh i see hey now already proposed this... i think it makes sense, but see above]
6/27/2011 9:24:19 PM
Last!
6/27/2011 9:30:50 PM
^^thank you^sorry to ruin it
6/27/2011 9:35:50 PM
^^Probably should wait until he actually returns to football. Besides, the market will always decide when its time for a thread to go. /overmoderation
6/27/2011 9:37:06 PM
Lastest last.
6/27/2011 9:37:39 PM
I'd rather not have Russell Wilson talk get lost in the general College Football thread, but I suppose its the real place for it
6/27/2011 10:42:02 PM
message_topic.aspx?topic=614844He may not win it, but if Wisconsin makes a BCS bowl this year, RW will be a finalist. Esp bc all of the sportscasters are already on board the RW and they will attribute Wisconsin's success to the addition of him to the roster...
6/27/2011 10:59:13 PM
I know that i missed the bus a while back,But how did we let this happen? If he were to play ball next year, why not at NC State? You know when all of this happened with his release I thought that it was just technical jargon, but now he is gone and playing for another school. You guys are kidding yourself if you don't think that this is epic NC State shit. Prolly the worst ever.
6/28/2011 12:27:20 AM
oh oh, the sheep wont like that one bit buddy, you cant have your own opinion
6/28/2011 12:29:47 AM
Yeah, he was also like the one handsome looking athlete that we had. Such a bummer.
6/28/2011 12:31:46 AM
ha haha, one might say he was a handsome boy
6/28/2011 12:34:23 AM
Some people like leaders who are completely risk averse, demand that people submit to loyalty tests, are inflexible, and pick their favorites over their top performers.4 out of the 7 habits of highly-successful coaches
6/28/2011 12:41:43 AM
Wilson's ceiling next year is getting obliterated by an SEC defense in the national title gameI see him barely winning double digit games and having a respectable yearIf he stayed, whats the point of even recruiting Glennon if he only would have 1 year of eligibility after RW left
6/28/2011 12:45:47 AM
SEC SEC SEC!
6/28/2011 12:47:00 AM
whose your dog in the CWS fightit would have to be the real Carolina]
6/28/2011 12:47:17 AM
yeah I guess them... I forget they are in the SEC a lot of times so its good for them to win something every now and then. Florida already has football and bball multiple times in the last decade so fuck them
6/28/2011 1:12:18 AM
hey guise if we play our all american qb another year then our 4 star recruit will have gone to waste!
6/28/2011 1:22:26 AM
6/28/2011 1:23:24 AM
I know... that was the "then" this the the "now"
6/28/2011 2:32:14 AM
6/28/2011 3:59:56 AM
6/28/2011 10:18:49 AM
^He shouldn't have to compete for a roll that he has already carried is in. Thats whats bullshit about it. Its not fair that RW hasn't built any equity with TOB through all he has done. How could he possibly be on a level playing field with Glennon? That twitter article jaybee posted was bullshit. I had a bad feeling the media would spin this whole thing as "Wilson wanting to play for a big time team and just leaving"
6/28/2011 11:05:34 AM
^ no collegiate athlete should have the power to hold a program hostage. That is kind of what RW did. It is completely fair to make glennon the starter and have RW compete for his job back.
6/28/2011 11:24:03 AM
6/28/2011 11:24:47 AM
damn, I did that shit twice three times[Edited on June 28, 2011 at 11:34 AM. Reason : jaybee called me out]
6/28/2011 11:31:39 AM
If Wilson was ready to give up baseball (at least for this year) he should have stuck around for spring ball like everyone else. His decision proves he could have been here for spring ball.
6/28/2011 11:34:31 AM
call me crazy guys, but i'm beginning to think that wilson was looking to transfer all along.
6/28/2011 11:43:26 AM
He needed to "test the waters" and see how this season went. Once he saw he was a terrible hitter, it was time to come back. I don't understand why TOB coudn't have done like every other coach and prepared to play without RW then if he came, inserted him. You know, what Wisconsin is doing on June/28. I bet Glennon put him in a hard place by asking to transfer and TOB was like "wait a second, let me see what Wilson is going to do"
6/28/2011 11:48:18 AM
Seems that way more and more
6/28/2011 11:48:57 AM
call me crazy, but as soon as he got his release I stopped giving a fuck about the kid and thought the thread should be locked.
6/28/2011 11:49:36 AM
This has been in the works for a long time (Russell participating in Senior Day). Glennon is the guy TOB is willing to hang his coaching future on. He's not the type of guy to come out and blow a bunch of smoke up everyone's ass if he really didn't think Glennon was the guy. He's not going to put his job in jeopardy if he doesn't think Glennon is the guy. It sucks, but this is what's best for all parties involved. I'd rather lose Russell a year early while we have a good back up plan than end up with Imhoff or whoever at the helm a year from now. That said, I will be cheering for him and Wisconsin.
6/28/2011 11:53:48 AM
But you still love Paul Johnson so much...
6/28/2011 11:54:03 AM
6/28/2011 11:56:59 AM
^ as they say on IC, "nominated".
6/28/2011 12:02:46 PM
6/28/2011 12:05:17 PM
^^^Good point. If TOB promises Russell the starting job if he returns, Glennon transfers, Russell tears it up in baseball, Russell decides to forgo his 4th year and concentrate on baseball. Where does that leave us? I don't think TOB could have made any other decision.[Edited on June 28, 2011 at 12:06 PM. Reason : ^^^]

6/28/2011 12:16:41 PM
This decision was more an investment for the future of the program (2012 season) than it is for right now. Option 1: Take your chances on Wilson. Maybe he returns, maybe he doesn't. The team is held hostage. Anxiety builds in the locker room - receivers work out together but don't know who the QB will be. Meanwhile, Glennon is tired of this shit and transfers. Assume the worst-case scenario: Wilson sticks with baseball and doesn't return. Glennon is gone, and now we're left with Imhoff and Brosius for 2011. Even if Wilson returns, he's only around for 2011. Then 2012 comes, Glennon transferred last year, and Brosius, a sophomore, is depended on to compete against Tennessee in the first game of the season. Option 2: Take matters into your own hands. Grant Wilson a release and move on with your prize jewel recuit Glennon. You know he's gonna be around this spring to work with the offense. The 2012 season starts and we have a returning senior QB to lead a veteran team.
6/28/2011 12:19:57 PM
Its clear he's not coming back. Why is this thread still open. The ryan harrow thread got locked when he left state. You mods are fucking worthless[Edited on June 28, 2011 at 12:31 PM. Reason : niggers]
6/28/2011 12:29:26 PM
When did lorenzo brown leave? Fuck me.
6/28/2011 12:33:30 PM
A lot of people with intimate knowledge of TOB's mind ITT
6/28/2011 12:35:01 PM
So has he returned his watch yet?
6/28/2011 12:36:37 PM
^^ I know, speculation goes against the whole premise of message boards. Come on guys.
6/28/2011 12:59:33 PM
those really are the only two options TOB could have taken, right? you don't need initimate knowledge, it's fairly cut and dry.
