He was already on some lists as a member of NC State...Wisconsin has two running backs on the watch list for this year, when RW puts up similar rushing numbers he is def going to get thrown in the mix...

why a heisman watch thread for a guy who's on the wisonsin football team?
6/27/2011 12:48:06 PM
although he's on wisconsin, he was the savior of ncstate football. Post river football was atrocious and he came in and single-handedly changed that and brough excitement back. Even though we only came back for 3 years, I will never forget him for that.

we only "came back" for one year.you realize RW only had one winning season as starting QB (not that this was his fault), right?
6/27/2011 1:15:32 PM
Russell Wilson torn ACL watch 2011
6/27/2011 1:17:11 PM
But he beat unc-ch 3 times. He is our lord and savior
6/27/2011 1:17:20 PM
i don't know many that would put a rusty ass QB on a new team on the heisman watch list. actually, it will probably be the same that put a freshman on a pre-season all america team.
6/27/2011 1:17:46 PM
Don't let the troll make you anti-RW.

We had excitement in those yearshttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQPST9uWsIE&feature=relatedI remember thinking I would never see anything special in my days at NCSTATE then he came along and changed everything. The ECU game is dearest in my heart because that was the first real glimpse. The Miami run was incredible. The FSU run was incredible. The UNC games were incredible.Think of all the plays he bought several seconds and ran around until something opened up then bulleted a man in a crowd in the chest for a td.He's going to open up so much for wisconsin because you have to use your ends/lbs to contain him. If he gets outside its either a big run or a touchdown. When teams play contain defense it opens up the middle run. Wisconsin already has the best middle run in the country so teams can't really afford to open that up. Theres no solution. Wisconsin will have a top 5 offense next year.

he was pretty rusty last year and he didn't miss an entire 3 months. and he had the same receivers.
6/27/2011 1:36:37 PM
yeah i think that post was a little heavy on the hyperbole. That said, it was obvious last year that he was a bit rusty for the first few games--- we happened to win those games, so it wasn't a problem.Of course, now he's gonna be playing with other players that he doesn't even know. That's not a lot of time to build chemistry with your O-line and receivers. However, I think if anyone can pull it off, it's RW. Realistically, he's not a Heisman candidate.[Edited on June 27, 2011 at 1:37 PM. Reason : .]
6/27/2011 1:37:38 PM
He's not the best and probably won't have the stats to win since they will be running so much and other teams will be out of games early. It will be hard to get two finalists from the same team but wisconsin will have a guy in ny mark my words.
6/27/2011 1:40:29 PM
Heisman winners don't get dominated by ECU
6/27/2011 1:42:47 PM
They won't be playing ECU and I'm pretty sure they won't lose a game either unless its in Lansing[Edited on June 27, 2011 at 1:45 PM. Reason : and thats a tough game that they should win]
6/27/2011 1:44:08 PM
6/27/2011 1:57:21 PM
second team ones do[Edited on June 27, 2011 at 1:59 PM. Reason : he was first team in 08]
6/27/2011 1:59:19 PM
the entire wisconsin offense wont be based on his ability to create plays when the designed plays break down. They have a good o-line (as always) and 2 solid tailbacks he can hand the ball to. He'll be an improvement at QB for the Badgers, but he won't put up the same rushing #'s he did at State.
6/27/2011 2:05:26 PM
Wisconsin may have a good O-Line, but I know we always had to run plays out of the shotgun simply so RW could see overtop of them to look downfield (and partially because our o-line was so young/inexperienced meaning RW needed to create more). One thing I'm looking forward to with Glennon this year is his height since we'll be able to run more formations - should help Greene in the running game also.[Edited on June 27, 2011 at 2:14 PM. if russell wilson wins the heisman, i'll poop my pants.
6/27/2011 3:30:47 PM
It pisses me off that he's gonna be remembered as a Wisconsin player not a State player. So if/when we see him go pro they'll probably announce his alma mater ever game as UW.
6/27/2011 7:04:59 PM
He will be a finalist.
6/27/2011 7:46:21 PM
6/27/2011 10:00:45 PM
Good luck to RW, though it's going to be bittersweet as hell watching him next year. He wasn't perfect, but man he was fun to watch. I've never seen a player make more out of nothing than him. Part of me is pumped to watch him do his thing next year. The other part is praying Glennon doesn't suck
6/27/2011 10:14:49 PM
^^^^i think we all know he is only there to play ball and not get a degree so technically his alma mater will still be NC State just sayin[Edited on June 27, 2011 at 10:21 PM. Reason : .]
6/27/2011 10:16:34 PM
maybe we'll go to a bowl game against wisconsin..you know the bowl committees would eat that up...
6/27/2011 10:17:23 PM
and russell wilson would prolly eat us up...
6/27/2011 10:18:49 PM
I can see how Russell might win the heisman when he managed a dominant 27 against ECU last season while other offensive powerhouses like Rice and UAB only managed 62 and 42 points respectively.
6/28/2011 5:55:11 AM
they would prob put wisconsin against state in a bowl just for the storylinebut then again, we wont be bowl eligible]
6/28/2011 8:17:15 AM
^^ thats because to ECU, playing state or UNC is like playing in the superbowl. We on the other hand have nothing to gain by playing them. We came out sluggish and got behind early. In bigtime NC State sports, it seems we always play down to our competition. I'm hoping TOB and Gotty can get us out of this mindset.
6/28/2011 9:01:52 AM
we won't qualify for a bowl as prestigious as the one Wisconsin will play in

6/28/2011 9:50:16 AM
lets call him G MANfuck gminski.
6/28/2011 10:01:25 AM

6/28/2011 10:06:18 AM
Gott a lotta ding dong
6/28/2011 10:07:55 AM
We have nothing to gain by playing ECU? If I was coach, i'd kick off any player who had that mentality. There is absolutely no reason for the team to come out sluggish b/c of who they playing. You come out to win every game. They need to get that through their head and buck up for every game.
6/28/2011 10:48:38 AM
From one standpoint, it is correct, we do not have anything to gain by playing ECU. If we lose it looks horrible, if we win, it doesn't mean shit and it sucks we are forced to schedule them as often as we do.
6/28/2011 10:55:09 AM
Wisconsin lost @MSU last year, and plays @MSU again this year.. that's kinda shitty..
6/28/2011 11:50:31 AM
yeah, kinda like when we didn't play duke for 4 years. (2004, 2005, 2006, 2007).2003 @ Duke and 2008 @ Duke.expansion is dumb.
