"The bill prohibits schools and employers from asking for passwords and prohibits requiring "that an employee or applicant log onto a social networking site, electronic mail account, or any other Internet site or application by way of an electronic communications device in the presence of the employer."

How is this an anti-Facebook bill?

ha to be fair i meant to post in chit chat.

Quote :
"this is smath's attempt at satire"

specifically the media's use of sensational and misleading headlines to push their agenda. (in the case of my threads I'm using the context of the current wacky NC legislature.)

but the thing is, this bill isn't really that terrible. it may not be great, may not even be that necessary, but its not really trampling on anyone.

also, its mostly democrats

that's why we are all confused

what i think happened is that you saw a bill that you liked, that you thought made sense, and posted a satirical thread to make fun of liberals posting threads about terrible republican bills. except that in your haste to pwn the liberals, you failed to notice that this was mostly democrats. now, to save face, you are trying to make some broader point about sensational headlines.

The headline isn't even sensational. "Social media privacy bill passes House."

Yep, it did. Ok.

^you can repost your nonsense again, but it doesn't make it right. This is a bipartisan bill coming out of the republican controlled general assembly.

the two primary sponsors of the bill:
Duane Hall (D) http://ncleg.net/gascripts/members/viewMember.pl?sChamber=H&nUserID=679
Jason Saine (R) http://ncleg.net/gascripts/members/viewMember.pl?sChamber=H&nUserID=632

The initial voting on it was superbly bipartisan, although I will concede that as the day progressed and the bill was modified and re-voted on, fewer republicans supported it for whatever reason.

It still passed with no problem in the republican controlled house.

and the other sponsors:

Fisher; Floyd; Hamilton; Harrison; Holley; R. Moore;
Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat, Democrat

so you're dismissing the validity of the satire based on who "backed" a bill passed in a Republican legislature?

Hey Smath, Your "why did the chicken cross the road" joke is a failure because relative to the space and particles created at their moment of their existence, everything everywhere has remained stationary since the beginning of time.
