I don't quite agree that they need the login and password, but more along the lines of "show me your facebook now". Its getting to be expected that your Facebook needs to be cleaned up when you're applying for jobs and all that real world stuff.

i think that's a ridiculous intrusionbut could probably be dealt with using a dummy facebook pageof course, i don't think there's anything questionable on mine anyway...it's just a principle thing, and not wanting people looking over my shoulder.

I think it's a bit much to EXPECT or otherwise require you to have a facebook page. At the same time, one would be an idiot to have a facebook page and not think a potential employer would take a look at it."we never forget who we're working for" is part of our motto @ work. This means I work for theduke866. FUCK...that guy is an asshole[Edited on June 21, 2009 at 11:10 AM. Reason : d]

its an application for a city job, not some job with national security, where its important that all skeletons come out of the closet]

yeah, i don't get as bent out of shape about intrusion into my personal life from my job, because my job is a little different (although i do get annoyed with certain things).if I worked for the city, i'll be damned if they'd have the password to my facebook page.

That's definitely what's funny about this. Nowhere on the SF86 or SF86A does it ask for information about your facebook/myspace/whatever accounts. I think I just wouldn't provide these folks with that information, and if they had a problem with that I'd just go work somewhere else. Unless you're doing an actual security clearance background check I don't see why you'd even need that information.[Edited on June 21, 2009 at 11:30 AM. Reason : V Yeah that one. My apologies, zero meds have entered my system yet this morning. ]

SF86 doesn't ask for it either. I have a TS/SCI clearance, and I've never had to divulge any of that stuff.

Yeah I meant sf86 not nc86.Not talkin' about a damn highway here. >_<

montana is full of busybodies
6/21/2009 12:01:11 PM
oh, i didn't notice it was montana. that's odd--usually they're pretty good about minding their own business and letting people do their thing.
6/21/2009 12:03:04 PM
social networking? what's that?
6/21/2009 3:30:59 PM
Hilarious. I love the "add the city as a friend" option. I may add bozeman, montana just for that. and then deny them priveleges to view anything
