there are kids terrorizing my neighborhood, all our back patios are enclosed. they sneak in then no one can see them and they steal shit

i came home the other day and there were 2 kids there - one on my porch and one on his bike right beside it. they were like YO WHERES MIKE. i was like wrong house. didnt think much at the time cause it does all look similar if youve only been here once

ANYWAYS. i pointed at the house # above my door and was like ive been here for like a year and some change, you're at blah blah blah. then he was like NAH MIKE LIVES HERE, you got 2 tvs downstairs right. (which was true at the time cause i had an extra one on a table for a few days) -- so i gave them one more chance at an out and said "this isnt the place" and they were like nah we been in there.

question: should i have pulled out my GAT and capped those little kids? after i got inside i thought about it and went back out and looked in all the windows and you cant see in my house. so i called the security company.

then this weekend my neighbor saw flashlights out back after waking up after passing out on the couch watching tv. he went out there to see what was up and 3 guys jumped him. he managed to hurt 2 of them and they got away. i cant help but think that i should have killed them

Oh you can cut out the last part, fine, that's just malicious, but shotgun + dogs is pretty realistic.

If you're at all concerned you could set up those crappy as-seen-on-TV door alarms that that British dude sells (they were on TV a little while back) and just set them to the obnoxious alarming function at night. That alone should be enough to scare them off, and if it isn't you would make everybody SO HAPPY if you shot them in the face.

well yeah if i ever catch 3 teenagers in my home i may try to hang on to one of them. but property can be replaced, and i'd really rather replace maybe a tv and DVDs (remember they are on bikes hhahah) than have to defend myself against beating up some kids

i have been keeping an eye out... the cops seem to be backed up bigtime, and its apparantly a huge problem in the area. our neighborhood in particular has bought private security, but still i've been sleeping on the couch lately because i don't think i'd hear anything if someone broke in with me upstairs asleep. its probably stupid and i'll end up getting shot or something, but i'd rather wake up to someone breaking in than wake up to someone in my bedroom.

anyways now that its hit the news hopefully people will pressure the cops to come around more. i talked to the girl next door and her boyfriend the other day and they didnt even know that ANY of this was going on. so then i started approaching people who were walking their dogs by here. most people had no idea.

im still surprised that they arrested a kid on a bike, and i told them about kids on bikes over a week ago, and no one has asked me anything else about it. i could probably make an ID. and im positive the guy who got jumped could make an ID.

i just think its funny that ive tried to contact the cops FOREVER about the weird incidents over here with the kids on the bikes, and that no one ever bothered to call me back, or ask for descriptions or ANYTHING.

then, 30 breakins and a murder later, they finally catch someone.... on a bike.

its hard to get the cops attention when you're on the right side of the law.... i should have called and like told on myself for selling drugs, then when they came to search, i could be like "yeah just kidding theres nothing here, but everyone is getting robbed plz help"

i think now that we finally got some media attention, and that its gotten so bad, we can start capturing them and tying them up till the cops get here. i'm not as worried about punishment as i was before.

That sucks man. I'm living in Durham in a decent neighborhood but we always have kids coming over from local retal townhouses and apartments messing with stuff. Luckily I've got 2 cops next door and a total of 5 within a 3 block radius.

I always wanted to set up a webcam with some security recording software to see what goes on behind the houses here. Might need to upload the pics to a website periodically in case the computer gets swiped

thats EXACTLY the situation here, i'm almost sure i know where they come from, there's a kinda shady looking apartment complex about 2-3 blocks away, and it happens to have access to the woods behind the area if they come in from a side street.

the part that pissed me off the most was that i tried to tell the cops all that. i think its gone down in our particular area since the HOA FINALLY fired the old security people and got a real company to ride around in unmarked cars all night. but since they come in the back doors, it doesnt help me sleep any better at night. so i just wait for em on the couch
