Hey, Jake - have you guys ever considered using something that takes up alot less overhead for storage, like xml? My company decided to switch from SQL to XML for storage and it's SO MUCH more stable and fast, plus you don't have to worry about licensing and whatnot

for small amounts of data that need to be traversed and displayed XML is great. for large amounts of data that need referential integrity, complex filtering, joining, full text search, and constant manipulation, a RDBMS is the ONLY way to go.

I don't know what kinda application your company is using it for, but I think any DBA would agree that you get what you pay for

Hah, Trying to convince CrazyJ to use anything other than what he is already seems to be an exercise in futility.

Jake put tons of effort into this site, and I'm sure he's constantly looking for ways to make it better.

If something better comes along, then I'm sure he'd change to it. Hell, he was about ready to take up that Oracle $1,000,000 bet even if it meant that he'd have to fork over the change if they did speed up the DB.

that oracle challenge is a fucking hoax, Oracle is one of the most labor intensive hard to maintain DB's out there. Sure it can do anything, but god it's a bitch to work with. Two of my uncles are Oracle DB admins and they constantly pray to god for someone to allow them to switch to SQL server.

"Licensing
We do not offer a simple license model for CrazyWeb. It is not possible to offer customized functionality with a single packaged product. Instead we offer contractual customized packages that offer the flexibility that is integral to any interactive application.

Any site developed with CrazyWeb will include the full CrazyBase. Individual CrazyModules can be created or modified from existing CrazyModules. Please contact us for a quote on development of a CrazyWeb application!

Just out of curiousity, how many contracts have you had?
