It's never too early to start talking about week 1. Shit it's like a month away. The NFC champion bears are going to San Diego to play what should have been last years Superbowl Sunday, Sept 9. at 1:15 pm on FOX!I think Phil gets a TD pass in during this game. I can't wait. ^ that is cute, but this isn't a Philip Rivers thread, this is a thread about the Chargers vs Bears in Week 1.
8/7/2007 6:04:20 PM
if its going to be OFFICIAL should you at least have the right helmet color scheme represented?
8/7/2007 6:16:13 PM
fuck off Kyle
8/7/2007 6:19:02 PM
excited about checking the team out this sunday, even if it's a boring preseason gamei'll certainly be at the bears game toogo bolts

I first read the title of this thread as official chicago bears week 1 and was annoyed. But then I re-read and became unannoyed. carry on.
8/7/2007 7:03:05 PM
so we're going to:a. have a different thread for every game in a given weekb. make said threads a month before the game?
8/7/2007 9:03:51 PM
ibtl, please, we dont need a thread for every chargers game...just lump them into 1 chargers 2007 thread or something
8/7/2007 9:06:16 PM
This is the official week 11 bengals vs. cardinals post in the official chargers vs. bears week 1 threadGO BENGALS!

Chargers WR Eric Parker is out for 2 months or so. He'll be missed considering that they don't have any other slot/underneath recievers with ANY experience at all. Behind him is rookie Craig Davis and Camarillo. VJ and Floyd will help get open in the deep out routes, but Phil's bread and butter is the underneath stuff. He'll have to find Gates and LT, who will be covered by Urlacher and the safeties. Those should be some interesting matchups.
8/7/2007 9:35:02 PM
oh i think they will be ok without brick hands
8/7/2007 9:45:02 PM
LOL "brick hands" was pretty damn consistent during the regular season. Not many dropped balls aside from the playoff game. VJ has his own problems catching the ball as well.Malcom Floyd is probably the guy to watch for at WR. He was tearing it up before injuring his ankle against the Bengals last year.[Edited on August 7, 2007 at 9:48 PM. Reason : 2]

Eric Parker couldn't catch a cold later in the season. He is inconsistent as hell, but to be fair he should not be a #1 wideout in the NFL. Good thing Gates and LDT are awesome in the passing game. Hopefully Jackson will develop and Craig Davis will be the real deal, so Eric Parker can be a slot/backup receiver.

Ok charlie you can call it OFFICIAL now[Edited on August 7, 2007 at 10:55 PM. Reason : .]

the chargers are currently 6.5 point favorites according to sportsbook.com. I think they cover that easily. I just dont see the bears scoring more than 17 points in this game as long as rex grossman is taking snaps. The chargers O could easily get 2 rushing and 1 passing touchdown and their defense is always a threat to turn you over.28-13
8/7/2007 11:49:10 PM
don't hate on parker, look at the % of balls thrown his way he catches:2004:66%2005:71%2006:69%other 2006 catch%'s:steve smith 60%chad johnson 57%torry holt 52%larry fitzgerald: 62%marvin harrison: 64%reggie wayne: 63%so unless you want to complain about almost every wr in the nfl, back off
8/8/2007 12:06:34 AM
Bears 42, Bills Chargers -7
8/8/2007 12:18:01 AM
^^ those % mean almost nothing considering all those other recievers get thrown to about 10 times more per game
8/8/2007 12:25:45 AM
One year about midseason Tim Duncan was 50% from the 3 point line.Of course, he had only shot 2 threes all season.
8/8/2007 12:32:23 AM
^^People are complaining about frequent drops, less passes only further means less dropspasses thrown to:Parker 2004: 712005: 802006: 70=2212006:steve smith:139chad johnson:152torry holt: 179larry fitzgerald: 111marvin harrison: 148reggie wayne: 137So, in a sample size larger than any of those receivers, parker has caught a higher % of balls thrown his way than those studs. I'm definitely not saying he's better than any of those WR's, but calling him "brick hands" and saying he won't be missed is misguided.[Edited on August 8, 2007 at 12:47 AM. Reason : d]
8/8/2007 12:47:31 AM
the knock on parker is that he's not a big game player. he never shows up when it's all on the line.
8/8/2007 1:02:07 AM
this game could very well be a Superbowl preview for this year
8/8/2007 8:05:20 PM
^If so, then that's an easy superbowl win for the chargers
8/8/2007 9:00:43 PM
i'd say if the chargers make the superbowl its an easy win vs any NFC team .. but as has been so eloquently pointed out this is 1st week of preseason
