So other than the Little Theater Rose Garden and the JC Raulston Arboretum, does anyone know of any nice places to have an outdoor wedding ceremony in Raleigh? This would be in the fall (of '08). Thank you!!

Fred Fletcher Park, in between St. Mary's street and Glenwood. They have a landscaped/terraced area that would be great for a small wedding (I've seen a few there in passing...)[Edited on June 25, 2007 at 11:48 AM. Reason : d]

The Meredith College amphitheater is really nice, and they are very receptive to having weddings on campus.

^Thanks! I wasn't aware of that.

those places you named are great, if you don't mind getting ready for your wedding somewhere else, and then driving to the location to get married. that wasn't an option for me, so we just booked this place:http://www.casparpark.comhttp://www.delightfulinspirations.comit's a little pricy, but they have the gardens for an outdoor ceremony, and the indoor ballroom for the reception. they provide all the food, all the table linens, and even some decorations. if you'd like more information send me a message.

my friend had his wedding at the rose garden in the Raleigh little theater right off Hillsborough st.

Meh its not Raleigh, but I had my ceremony in Durham at Duke Gardens. Beautiful, but a little pricy. Have to reserve the first business day of the month that you want the ceremony a year in advance. Just in case you could move a little outside of Raleigh.

my mom got remarried at the rose gardens in raleigh in 1998, and it was beautiful and CHEAP. but i hated getting ready at home and then driving to the ceremony site. i just prefer to be on site to get ready, ya know?

You can get married in my driveway for $50.

Sometimes I think, man, I'd love to get married around friends and family...but then the perfect location for me would be the beach...

when my dad found out how much the place was that we booked, he offered to buy me and 10 of my closest friends roundtrip tickets to vegas

I've always thought the Page Walker Hotel in downtown Cary would be a nice place to have a wedding. There is an adjacent gardent that's pretty nice - it has a gazebo on one end and a fountain on the other. I don't know anything about having a wedding there, but I think it would be worth investigating. For rental info:http://www.townofcary.org/depts/prdept/facilities/pwhome.htmIf you do end up looking into it, let me know what you find out. [Edited on June 25, 2007 at 1:13 PM. Reason : no pics]

^Looks beautiful. I am going to look into it. I'll let you know any info I find out.thumper, I can totally see where you are coming from about the getting ready thing. That's kind of the one thing that's turning me off to the Rose Garden.

Are you having a big wedding? I had my reception at Sister's Catering on Millbrook Rd in Raleigh and they have a very nice side patio/garden that lots of people do weddings at, and then they have the indoor reception hall for the reception, but I don't know what the limit for ppl is outside. If for some reason it rains, they have a tent that they attach to the building for the outside area. It's very pretty, and you can get ready there.http://www.sisterscatering.com/[Edited on June 25, 2007 at 2:43 PM. Reason : site]

^^Not very big. There are about 110 people on the preliminary guest list. That's a great idea though, I am definitely going to look into them. Thank you!!

I wouldn't have my wedding somewhere where other people have been married at a thousand times...It just seems so stationary, robotic, and cliche!

There's also the Tucker House, and Haywood Hall downtown. The Tucker House doesn't have much "yard" or gardens, but the house is gorgeous. Haywood Hall has a beautiful side garden that could stage the reception, and a lawn in front of the house for the ceremony. Also, there's Shady Wagon Farms out near Apex. Its right off US-1 and really easy to get to. They are kinda pricey... As for Fletcher Field - they have a fair number of rules. Things like no amplified music during the ceremony or reception, no liquor so things don't get out of hand, no red wine so it doesn't stain the furniture (inside the Borden Building). It is CHEAP though. So is the Tucker House (where I think we're going to use for our April 08 wedding).

The Tucker House was one of our first picks, but the layout inside just didn't work for us. It's gorgeous, but too closed off.

This may be way off-base, depending on how girly you are , but you might look into the pavilion at Lake Wheeler. The pavilion itself can be decorated really nicely, and there are a couple of plain but serviceable rooms for dressing, etc. Depending on what time of the fall you are getting married, you might even get a nice backdrop of fall leaves around the lake. Would expect there to be alcohol restrictions since it's a public park, and of course the restrooms are kind of rustic.Another place is Montague Lake (more of a pond, but very pretty) on Penny Road in Cary. It's privately owned but there are lots of things going on there and I assume they rent it out. No idea about dressing rooms, etc. Try Montague Building Company for info.

I was a bridesmaid at my friends wedding at highgrove. http://www.highgrove-nc.com/The tent was pretty nice, and teh food wasn't too bad.

DoubleTree suites (A Hilton Hotel) off of 55 in Durham has a giant pond outback where they do Ceremonies & Receptions.

You could always do the Wedding Chapel of Love in Cary!I still can't believe that is what they named it. Not to mention it's right next to a fairly busy intersection with RR tracks a stones throw away... for my 2 yr old.

I had my wedding ceremony at the Raleigh Rose garden in the fall--unbelievably beautiful. Since our reception was at the Velvet Cloak, we just got a room there for the bridal party to get dressed and took a limo to the gardens.

I just want to thank everyone again for their suggestions. We did a lot of research and decided to go with Fearrington.
