i actually think baseball works better by having the separate team threads, at least for the teams that really have a following on this site

I still cant believe Pavano is pitching opening day in New York. If he gets roughed up, they'll boo him right out of the stadium.

^^ Thanks, I was looking for that one.

^^^ Yes, but this one can be used to talk about division races and stories like LaRussa's drunk driving and the whole steroid deal. Or if a Brewers pitcher throws a no-hitter or something, stuff without a team thread.

Bonds is about to make his season debut. I hope he breaks his knee. If he stays healthy, though, I think he'll have a good year. 30+ HR

I don't know if there are groups this year, I would join one. Although I woke up too late and forgot to make today's pick, not a good start.

Johnny Damon was out of the lineup with a sore right calf. Robinson Cano was hitting leadoff and Melky Cabrera was in center.

“It felt like cramps the other day,” Damon said, “but this is definitely much worse than that.”

Now, before you panic, Damon tends to overplay injuries. This is a guy who played last season with a broken bone in his foot. Joe Torre sounded far more optimistic. This seems to be a day-to-day kind of thing.

Ryan Howard really needs to be a DH. Dude has 2 errors already in 2 games and 1 inning. That's almost impossible for a first baseman..

Quote :
"Major League Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig extended an invitation to all clubs to allow any of its members to wear No. 42 after Cincinnati's Ken Griffey Jr. received permission to do so on the 60th anniversary of Robinson's entry into the game. "

An interesting idea to revive the old number. If they were smart, they'd auction off the jerseys for charity.
So far it's Griffey (CIN), Bonds (SF), Lee (CHC), Cameron (SD), and Young (WSH)

I picked the brew crew to finish 1st in the NL central.

That means it probably won't happen.

I guess the World Series may finish in November this year if it goes to 7 games. MLB pushed back the game 1 date so they could get better TV ratings and thus the 7th game is scheduled in Nov.

somebody refresh my memory on how DH works in interleague play...if AL team is home team, they have a DH, if NL team is home team the pitcher bats? is it that simple?
