I took a little search around the internet but nothing jumped out at me, so I thought I could ask here.

In my apartment, we have a Wireless Router (D-Link DI-624) which is one room and has several ethernet wires connected to it. The cable modem plugs into this as well. My laptop connects to this via wireless.

I have a desktop in my room that I'd like to tie into this network. I don't have a PCI wireless card for it though, but I do have a Netgear MR814v2 wireless router. I was hoping I could make the Netgear router act as AP for the D-Link wireless network, then I could plug my desktop into the Netgear via ethernet.

Any ideas on how this could be done? I've tried turning off DHCP on the Netgear router and changing some settings, but how I can make it 'connect' to the D-Link wireless network and still retain it's ethernet switch?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

basically, you need to get a router capable of doing it or find firmware that makes your router capable of doing it.

also related if you end up buying the wrt54g: message_topic.aspx?topic=390510 - different firmwares you can try out. i don't know which ones have this capability for sure out of that, but you can play around with them.
