With the passage of the UNC System board of Governors tuition increase, our school has acquired more funds for University operations. In a few weeks, the Student Senate will be deciding where that money will be allocated in the future. At NCSU, the arts programs often has problems with funding. Please contact the student senators for your school and urge that they vote to allocate extra money for our arts programs. These funds would go toward the following:
- University Theatre - The Music Department - The Gallery of Art and Design - The Crafts Center - The Dance Program - NCSU Center Stage - Maintenance and Operation of Talley and Witherspoon Student Centers, Price Music Center, Thompson Theatre
This money is needed because of state-mandated salary increases (22% increase), inflation (%16), and the expansion of various programs since the last increase in funding for the arts programs (six years ago).
If you want any information or if you want to help with these efforts, please contact me via IM or email. Shane Smith - Member of the UAB Board of Directors

A month belated post? The Senate will be considering the issue tomorrow and all indications are that it will strongly support the ARTS NC State in its recommendations.
I would note that it is the Student Center Board of Directors, not the UAB Board of Directors.
If you care to know, the Student Senate passed by acclamation a bill suggesting a path of allocation for the tuition funds. That act gave top and massive preamble billing to the programs my colleague mentioned.
