We need volunteers to help initiate a food and clothing drive for relief to victims of Hurricane Katrina as well as people to donate items. All donations will be trucked down to Lousiana. If you would like to help organize these relief efforts please email udorawala@gmail.com or PM udorawala
That chit chat thread is hard to sift through. Please post some details once you get things organized.
Who's organizing this, an individual, a student organization, a public organization? How is overhead going to be paid for (thinking gas namely)? Where do donations get dropped off at?
etc. etc.

we are still working out when and where people can bring their donations of food, clothing, toiletries, etc.
i have arranged for transportation of collected items already and have gotten in contact with a couple of distribution centers in louisiana about where the shipments should go to
it would help if we could get some volunteers to take collections in their dorms or in the brickyard so we can increase how much we donate. i would love to see us fill up more than one truck!
i'll go through my stuff tomorrow and will have things for you. i never wanted to just give some of this stuff to goodwill, but i think donating to a good cause will be appropriate. when do you want things by and where do i take them? thanks!
once you get things organized i definitely want to help. keep me updated. im only free in the afternoons but i can donate time and make phone calls, pack stuff, etc.
My band Liquor Pop is already headlining one releif benefit show in two weeks. We can do another if you get us a place to play. We are a 60's to 90's cover band and play all over the state.
Hey I'm a graduate student, and I have alot of friends at NCCU who would like to get involved with our relief effort because NCCU has not coordinated one (as of this email), how would I go about making a connection between the two schools in helping get the word out?
If you can't get off campus, I'm going to be holding donations at my appartment at Wolf Village to be transported to the main collection site. If you live in Wolf Village, please drop off your items at apt 313 in the D-Building...anyone else, please email me at lrgibbs@ncsu.edu to arrange a time to drop your donation off.
I'm going to type up some flyers and put them in my neighborhood as a drop off site... I am located off Lineberry in Trailwood Hills and I would love to be another designated drop off site for those on this side of town. I am tired of watching tv and crying about the devastation. It's time to take action.... hats off to those of you who got this going... Count me in... anything you need... I'm your girl.
Just a thought that I have begun to adapt, hopefully some of you will think about it too...
If you are out this weekend or this week, how about instead of buying that extra beer, or that extra shirt you wanted, and use that money to donate for the victims
It is, however, like their FUCKING CITY got wiped out and they probably never had a bank account to begin with! If you wanna talk shit about relief efforts, go find some heartless friends discuss it with. However, there is nothing you can do to stop people from wanting to help those in need, and we all hope that if our time comes, people like you, receivedeath, are not in charge of helping us.
