Founded in 1998 by the Park Scholars and the Student Government of North Carolina State University, Service Raleigh is an annual, one-day event designed to foster in its participants both a lasting dedication to serve and a consistent commitment to the community.
Last year the event was a huge success! Over 2200 volunteers came out to the event. Each committed to give five hours of their time and effort back to the community for an estimated 11000 work-hours of service. To put this into perspective, at 40 hours a week, it would take one person over five years to do all of that work.
This year our goal is 2500 volunteers, for a total of 12500 hours of work on April 2, 2005! Help us reach our goal, and join us in community service by becoming a volunteer. Individuals and groups can register by visiting http://www.serviceraleigh.org and filling out the volunteer registration form.
