Ray Carruth was sentenced to a minimum of 18 years, 11 months, and a maximum of 24 years, 4 months for the death of Cherica Adams. This sentence includes time already served. Defense attorney David Rudolf argued the "mitigating circumstances" of Carruth's lack of a criminal record, while Prosecutor Gentry Caudill noted that Carruth has not shown any remorse during the trial. This marks the end of a long and unusual trial of the former Panthers star reciever.
