"The scholarship recipient must meet all requirements for the awarding of need-based university scholarships as outlined by the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid at NC State. The commission determines the format, i.e. renewable/non-renewable, amount, etc, of the scholarship to be awarded. However, the scholarship recipient is determined by OSFA according to their records of student financial need. Students are selected for the scholarship based on whomever demonstrates the most unmet financial need."
I think the idea is great for helping out a really needy student.
I have a question though, what happens if the financial aid office doesn't accurately determine a student's need? Do you take that into consideration?
Perlith- That's a really great question and I appreciate that you actually looked into WSI and what we are doing. I have honestly never considered that the Office of Financial Aid may not accurately assess need. Is there a particular issue you know of within their office that I can look into? I will ask our advisor in the Office of Gift Planning about this and talk to OSFA to find out more about it. Thanks for bringing that to our attention and if you have any more comments or suggestions please let me know. Thanks!
