I wonder if this is a result of people saying how much they liked those cool pictures in the library. How about those photographs? I thought they it was worthwhile to look at almost all of them.
lol...."those cool pictures"....thats the first i've ever heard the pulitzer prize photographs referred to as just "cool pictures". But yeah i think this was planned well in advance of the pulitzer display. But hopefully the perked interest in photojournalism will get some people to this event.
I'm not familiar with any of the panelists other than Pat Davison. He taught one day of my PJ classes at UNC (yes, I took two courses over there) when he was applying for the position he eventually was given. Up against stiff competition, he definately made a great impression on the students and faculty. His work with the Rocky Mountain News on Columbine earned the staff a Pulitzer for that work. I can't find the images right now from that story, but I'm sure a bit of searching will find them.
Pat also did an excellent story on Alzheimers entitled "Undying Love." The images are remarkable, and if you have anyone close to you who is aging, or experiencing Alzheimers, this will hit home really hard. Oh, and the subject just happened to be his mother. Much respect for Pat. http://denver.rockymountainnews.com/undyinglove/
