On Friday, October 24 at 8 p.m., PineCone will present an old-time music extravaganza with The Reeltime Travelers and Old Crow Medicine Show at Stewart Theatre.
These are two of the hottest combos in the wave of young old-time string bands that has cropped up in the last few years. The Reeltime Travelers play “Old-Time Reeltime Americana music”, drawing from the deep Southern Appalachian tradition to create new songs and sounds. Their shows are high-energy mixes of traditional dance tunes, mountain harmonies, original banjo and fiddle tunes, and new songs with ties to the old-time tradition. More about the Reeltime Travelers
Old Crow Medicine Show is a young five piece rollicking, punkified old-time acoustic band. They bring it all together to play songs from some of the earliest traditions of American music—tunes from jug bands and traveling shows, back porches and dance halls, southern Appalachian string music and Memphis blues. Old Crow gives the music a new, hard driving, stand-up-and-shout-about-it life. More about Old Crow Medicine Show
