Today is the grand opening of Clark Dining Hall on East Campus. It looks really nice and modernized inside. The trays have a no slip surface so your plates don't slide. The plates are a lot better than those at fountain and the silverware is new. The food is really good and a lot better looking than at Fountain. Today at lunch, grilled hot dogs, grilled hamburgers/cheeseburgers, grilled chicken sandwiches, chicken fajitas, beef tips with gravy, and small personalized pizzas were the main courses. Then they had mac & cheese(i think), and rice and corn that had flavor.
The chairs are nice. They actually recline if you lean back. Tables are nice but on the narrow side. The dining area is small so if you do not want to wait in a line for food, I suggest getting there really early or really late. Clark is definately worth the meal plan. I just wish they had did this sooner!

"soooo... can someone tell me why they decided to build a new dining hall without even making the one they have decent?"
Clark was opened primarily to serve the residents of East Campus, particularly those who couldn't get into Case. It gives them an alternative to walking across campus to eat at Fountain, especially since the only other meal plan option for East Campus is the Student Center (East Campus students weren't allowed to eat dinner at Case). Don't be jealous... the East Campus kids have been walking over to Fountain just to get a meal for several years now.
Maybe because the food is actually prepared on REAL grills, stoves, etc. right in front of you. For instance, tonight I had a grilled chicken sandwich which was grilled on a real grill (not one of those shitty flat ones), stir-fried steak and FRESH vegetables (made while I watched), FRESH salad (from a salad bar of respectable size), and french fries that were fried (not reheated) while I watched. It was fucking GOOD. As long as this isn't some bait-and-switch tactic, I am totally impressed by Clark.
My roomie and I went there for breakfast....everything was good. Biscuits were a little tough, but fountain can't compete in terms of omletes. Real eggs and fresh sauteed veggies to go into them, it was fucking good.
Just watch out, not everything is labeled so for all you Luck Charms lovers, look for the cereal dispensers on the other side of the drink island.
Other than that, I would recommend it. It was pretty fucking good.
What Tonia said is true. She just alerted me about Clark's opening. If it weren't for her, I would've gone to Fountain. I hope you weren't confused/misled about that spaced guy.

i don't question the need for a new dining hall (besides the fact that it'll effectively split the campus in half, i wonder if anyone on west and central next year will know who lives on east)... anywho, but tha'ts not the point, they build a new one while letting the one they have degrade further, it's the basic mentality of this university and it's fucking annoying, we get dissatisfied with the buildings we have, do we upgrade them? HELL FUCKING NO, ,we build a fucking new campus... gah, it's insanely annoying
oh ok, i just wanted to comment that you made the right choice not eating with us, because certain other people were at the table and you would not have enjoyed it.
so yeah. but i had a burger today for lunch from an actual grill and it was freakin good.
Hey this is my feeling about it i have had to walk for this whole year to eat at shitty fountain. Now they finish the dining hall and everyone wants to come eat here. The dining hall is for mainly east campus. I sat down and saw friends from lee and sulliven over here eating. Why??? stay over and eat at fountain so people don't wait for 30 mintues in line to eat. the dining hall was made for the east campus thats why its small it wasn't made for whole campus
Its about time! Damn it! i mean, this was supposed to be opened in october, and its FUCKING APRIL!!! but im not going to complain too much about it, seeing as i have endured the long ass walk to fountain to eat the shitty food they have there. its definitely worth it.
wolfpack1100... ya'll have no fucking patience, if something new had openedu p on west campus your happy ass woulda been over there to see it too, give them time, it'll die down...
assuming they fix up fountain and make it comparable
this dining hall wasn't built in an attempt to keep people from walking 30 minutes to case dining; it was built to keep the east campus people from eating at Case, so they can start serving steak and shrimp again (I hope you people have sneaked in there at night before to see what it is really like. I ate there for two years and still wasn't impressed with it after having dinner there a few times.) don't get used to the food they serve, it will turn to shit next semester. They just don't want you complaining about athletic priveleged dining for a year until they get everything settled down for a year. Why else would you think it took them so long to get Clark opened? you know it was eartagged for the beginning of this semester, right? the only reason it wasn't opened up was because the NCSU engineers refused to sign off on it, due to pressure from upper level management here.
