While I have been just as disappointed in the failures of our basketball team over the last couple of years as anyone, it is time to step up as fans. No more excuses. If you want to keep the alloted number of student tickets the way it is, it is time for us to put the ASSES IN THE SEATS. The student attendance this year has been horrible, and the "bigwigs" have seen that. Some are advocating removing a large number of student tickets to sell as season or game tickets. They have seen the sides to be mostly full, but the endzones have been virtually empty. It is time to put aside the Herb bashing (myself included) and start throwing the support of the entire student body behind our team. NCSU basketball used to be a national powerhouse with an outstanding tradition. A big part of that was because of the fans, namely the students. Lets re-invent that tradition come the new school year. While our team might not be tourney bound this year, go anyway. Be loud. Be rowdy. Get rid of some stress. I am begging all of you to help regain that unique fire and excitement that only comes during basketball season.
GO PACK!!

and the funny thing is- when it is time to get either my UNC or Duke ticket- all the losers that didn't care about going to the games will make their 'once a season' effort to go to reynolds. seriously yall go to the games. hell i'm a UNC fan and i even go to non-conference and preseason games.
i was thinking about a way to do this. I thought of an funny way to get the students to the games. This is very hypothetical because i know it will never happen but given Herb's salary, i think that it would be cool if the AD said that after the bball season any student who can produce a stub from every home game gets one semester's tutition paid for. That is like pocket change for our great coach and i am sure everyone would go to the games then.
to comment, I have been to every game. The "bigwigs" have also seen that alot of the paid seats are also empty. I agree for the support, but that would be shit if they revoke our tickets for a paying fan base that is not present!!
I was there last night and had a blast. We really need to suport our team. I agree that giving up student tickets to sell isn't gonna do much for attendance since many seats were empty in the regular sections.
i'll go to some games, ive been to a couple. but to tell you the truth, its just not that exciting watching a team play that you know could be good, but that isn't because our coach doesnt seem like he wants to win.
perhaps if we got rid of herb and his hood rats and had some decent players people the stands would be full. Novel concept that the administration obviously hasnt thought about
well put............but we don't need any white boys who can't play..............the hood rats need to be controlled,,,,,,,,,,,,and herby can't handle it.
Hasn't this already been discussed in the Lounge and other places? I've made it to two games, and I would have gone to more, but I've just had different things come up. If we play better schools, more students will show up. If they want, they could always let us keep the huge section during conference games, since the students show up to those, then sell the extra seats at non-conference games. True, general attendence isn't huge for the non-conference games either, so they don't really "need" the seats then. But maybe they could sell some end zone seats for a little extra money.
the point of this is it SHOULDNT MATTER. if it is possible you should be out supporting the team instead of bitching. and if something doesnt start soon, they are going to take away some of our tickets
Some people actually have jobs that require them to work weeknights, weekends, etc, times when games are. Secondly, when basketball was moved from Reynolds to the ESGay, less students were obviously going to attend. Nothing like having games ON CAMPUS for convenience sake.
I agree completely that the students need to get out to more games. I am a student and have been to all but one so far. My only question is who will they sell the tickets to if they take them away? The attendence so far is equally bad in all areas of the arena.
as far as students with jobs that is one thing. i have 2 jobs myself and it is very difficult to make the games but i try my damnedest. thats all im asking.
the tix they take away will be allocated to either the athletic department to distribute as they see fit or to game-by-game sales
I guarantee the student and the fan sectioon would be packed if we played half decent. Sure we can win the black coaches association tourney, and beat wofford, but can we even hang with an acc team. I cant wait for duke and carolina to blow us out as usual. Maybe then you idiots who claim that its the students fault wil lfinally realize the reason people dont go there is because we have better things to do than drive to the ESA to watch herb and the hood rats lose again. The only reason many people even go to the games is becaus its a nice stadium. Oh and to see the dance team
I've been to EVERY home game so far this season, and will only miss 2 of our home games this season.
Student ticket demand 2 years ago when we moved to the ESA was high - we all wanted to see the new statium. For a game or two, the ESA was as loud as Reynolds was over 3 years ago. I haven't the ESA as loud as reynolds since then.
To address the issue of publicity, athletics now places signs on campus for Men's BB similar to how they do for Soccer, Volleyball, Swimming, etc. It is sad when they have to do this for a 'major revenue generating sport' (Football & Men's BB).
I would like to see Athletics bus the FR over to the ESA (if they aren't doing so - I'm a SR off-campus). They didn't bus last year.
I attend NC State baskteball games now and I am close to not going anymore because I am tired of cheering our team on and us playing horribly. Its really starting to get old. I'd rather give what little time I have to the Women's Team cause they want to win.
There needs to be a shuttle from the middle of campus to ESA. I think that is the main reson why alot of people dont go to many games is because the hastle it takes them to get there.
