*Help Fight Hunger in the Triangle*
*Volunteer at Interfaith Food Shuttle*
The Interfaith Food Shuttle is a Triangle nonprofit dedicated to fighting hunger and food insecurity, a critical problem affecting many people in our area. Consider:
In Wake County alone, --5,000 senior citizens run out of food at least once per month --23,000 schoolchildren live in families that cannot provide 3 meals/day --2,000 homeless people sleep on the streets each night.
Food Shuttle's primary activities include recovering excess food from donors all over the city and delivering that food to needy agencies and individuals, as well as operating a job training program for homeless individuals seeking employment in the food service industry. With the recent downturn in the economy, demand for Food Shuttle's services has increased dramatically. We need YOUR HELP to meet the needs of hungry people in the Triangle.
Interfaith Food Shuttle will be holding a volunteer information session on Monday, October 29th at 5:00 PM in the Blue Room of Talley. There will be a short, 10-min presentation on the Food Shuttle, the director of the Food Shuttle will be present, some Food Shuttle volunteers will be there to answer questions, and best of all you can help yourself to free pizza and drinks. (see the attached invitation/flyer.) If you or a student organization you belong to have been looking for good ways to get involved in community service, this is it.

bullshit!! EVERY family has enough money to buy all the bread and peanutbutter they can eat. And dont talk about that not being a good meal. I'm sure you have eaten worse when the on campus restaurants were closed.

I refuse to help idiots. They should buy extra non-perishable food for these occasions, 3 months extra food at least. Cans and shit. Only a stupid person runs out of food and still has money.

wake up you idiot. Maybe in the small, perfect world you live in, things work that way. Have you ever been to an inner city area? Most of the kids there have to raise themselves. The parents DO NOT CARE enough to provide their kids with food. A lot of them are drug addicts, criminals, in jail, and these kids are left to pretty much fend for their own. Then they end up stealing, selling drugs, or robbing people in order to survive... and thus the endless cycle of inner city crime.
