Police are cracking down on speeders on campus. This upgraded awareness has been brought on by a drive to increase pedestrian safety. Campus speed limit is 25 m.p.h. So please be sure to watch the speed. If you see fit, you can even call in and report areas of concern. This is for our protection, not to annoy us. Have you noticed how people speed down Dan Allen and Cates? Do you realize how dangerous that is? There are probably hundreds of people a day that cross those streets without even looking. Please watch your speed on campus; if nothing else, you may save yourself some money.
Believe it or not, I actually like this sort of speed limit enforcement. I can't stand it when people expect me to drive more that 25 up Dan Allen. People are walking, riding bikes and jogging all over these streets...especially around Sullivan where there's no sidewalk. You're in a residential area! Watch the fuck out!
I think they just need to do something to divert traffic off of Dan Allen and Pullen Drive. There needs to be a high capacity road connecting Hillsborough and Western that is close to campus without going through campus.
I was driving down Dan Allen Wednesday afternoon, and traffic was backed up all the way down both sides of the road. And within a five-minute period, two ambulances had to get down that road to separate places, which wasn't an easy feat.
i admittefly drive quickly on freeways and some large city roads, but there is NO excuse for driving fast in a residential area. i hate it when i see speeding in neighrborhoods. your line of sight is short and things pop out into the street area very frequently. same thing with Cates/Dan Allen. they have a very high population and people are walking around it all the time. with the parking spaces, sight is very limited. i'm glad they're enforcing the limit.
Well I am glad they are enforcing the speed limit now, but the one thing that I can't stand is when people see you coming and they expect you to stop when are are going 25/15. They don't even look both ways.
