The boys (UPDATE : and girls) over at The Technician have been hard at work lately with their own coverage of Brent Road 2001. Two articles highlighting the block party are running in the Wednesday edition.
The first article, Keeping a tradition alive, discusses the party from the student viewpoint. Although most of the perspectives of the party were less than positive, the article sheds light on Brentroad.com's vehement effort to revitalize the party. Let it live baby, let it live!!!
The second article, Last call for Brent Road?, gives the administrative viewpoint. The RPD police captain, our director of Student Conduct, our vice chancellor for Student Affairs, and several other authority figures gave advice to stay away from Brent Road 2001. BOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Jake Morgan, a senior in mechanical engineering, is the founder of The Wolf Web (www.thewolfweb.com and www.brentroad.com), a local message board that caters primarily to NCSU students. He is planning a live Web cast from various locations on Brent Road, and he is spearheading a drive to increase the number of people who show up.

He is planning a live Web cast from various locations on Brent Road, and he is spearheading a drive to increase the number of people who show up.
Working from a base of approximately 2,500 authenticated users and through the use of a large ad campaign that began early this week, he hopes to have a contingent of 500 people at Brent Road this Saturday.
Concerned about the behavior of those students who do choose to attend the party, Morgan said his main goal is simply to keep the tradition alive. He has put information up on the Web site informing users of the dangers associated with Brent Road and how to act appropriately. He hopes that with a strong, well-behaved turnout, they can help to "revive the party and the spirit of the party" so that it can remain a student-organized tradition."
They should not tell us to stay away, but tell us not to drink underage, assault people or damage property. As long as we aren't breaking laws, why do they care? Fun is not illegal.
haha, there's 2 articel for jake in there, I read it while I was waiting for the math professor this morn. I couldn't wait to jump on here and mention it, looks like ya beat me to it, haha
why does everyone feel the need to mail parents about brent road? By the time your 18, you should be old enough to be responsible for your own actions and make thought-through decisions.
Mailing the parents of freshman and brent road residents must, MUST stop.
Not all students who come into college are 18. Also, because most people are just getting out of the house for the first time a little parental guidance isn't going to hurt. Keep in mind those kids who are 18 don't have to listen to their parents if they don't want to.
Personally I beleive if your 18 you should be able to drink... They say that you are old enough to die for you country...Y not have a beer too. NE way let them mail parents... Students do what they want to do... However Propagana does hurt and Marshal Law on one Road does too... Its sad that they have to slap us down with massive ammounts of cops...
Personally I dont drink but who cares if those who want to, do... I think there are too many dull and PC people in the world I say LONG LIVE BRENT ROAD!!! PARTY, LIVE, AND HAVE FUN...
Honestly, I dont see the point in going. I mean, was last years party really that much fun. If you thought so, it was only in your drunken imagination. I checked it out last year...nothing but people drinking in their front yard. Whoop de fucking do. I mean, if you want to keep the tradition alive, thats great, but being realistic, with all of those cops, its already dead. I didnt party the first couple of years I was here, so I dont have a personal tradition as far as going, so I will probably find something else to do that night. Thank you and have a nice day.
I'm really soory for you having so much trouble keeping such a great tradition alive. It's so natural have a few big parties all together during a semster, milestones in your college time. It's really sad and I'm really disappointed that the USA isn't as free as everybody said. Scaring freshmen and students with letters and police reminds me of any otger system than democracy. And sending letters to parents and landlords is really the peak..........it's really not the buisness of the University!!! But: don't let them do such things...............protest!!!! Don't let them take all your traditions like brentroad, pickstock etc. away.............fight (of course in a peaceful way), demonstrate, let it run through the media (this time from your point!).......
I really don't understand this "stay at home and have fun"......what did they want you to do there??? Having a children's birthday?? Don't let them scare you!!!
