its tough to say really. i favor it because IMO we will have the most dominant conference in the NCAA. but it will probably mean more struggles for State. although it does give us the opportunity to step up
I wonder if Miami will have one of the top bball programs in 10 or 20 years if they join the conference. You'd get to live in Miami and play top-ranked in-conference teams...
I dont like the fact that the ACC is expanding but if they do they should pick up only 2 teams, Miami and Virginia Tech. That makes sense because Miamis in ACC country right there with its rival FSU and VT is right there with its rival Virginia. Both are in ACC country and would have no problem fitting in. Syracuse and BC wouldnt look right in the ACC and would have to go on long-ass trips to play , Clemson, FSU, GT, and MIAMI so they should stay hell out.
P.S.- we should trade Duke for BC/Syracuse if needed
I can't stand the idea of splitting the conference into divisions. There is no way to do it and still keep State, Duke, UNC, and Wake all in the same division, unless you have some teams travelling a REALLY long distance to play.
Imagine if we went to two 6-team divisions. Well, if the NC schools WEREN'T in our division, then I'd be really pissed off. And then there are two spots left, hypothetically Miami and FSU. Then you are still going to have Syracuse coming all the way down to GA and SC to play games.
I think in terms of travelling it is stupid, and the other thing is that I WANT to play each school twice in basketball and every year in football.
Doesnt anybody realize the whole deal is about MONEY$$$$$$$ The conference would get millions and the only reason BC or Syracuse are being invited is to open up new tv markets - people already watch VT.
I think the ACC should pick up three teams. Miami, UGA and VT. This would increase the rivalrys in the conference, and make us the best conference. Not only will this cause all the ACC teams to step us as a hole, it provides a great grounds for us to prove ourselves!
all though i mostly agree.....i dont like the fact that if we expand to 12 teams...we will only play each team once in basketball not giving each team a chance on there home floor.....
Guys, guys, guys, think about it. You are saying if they expand you want VT or USC or all these teams with Miami. Not too logical guys because the vote is on Syracuse and BC. You can't change that. It is already in the works. I agree that it sucks that the NC teams will more than likely get split due to travel, but this gives us a big shot at new things. For all you state fans, this gives your team and my team more tv action when they play Miami and Syracuse, who will now get coverage more often due to the nat's championship. Just think, it would be great to expand to the local teams, i.e. VT and bringing back USC and maybe even another GA team, but then we lose out. So in the end, we take the blow, bend over and grab our ankles at the teams we don't want, that is if we expand. If we dotn expand, then we are happy, those of us who do not want expansion that is. I on the other hand welcome the expansion, but wish we could add more games to the season so that we can play each team once in football and twice in basketball. What I also like about the expansion is that baseball possibly becomes bigger welcoming Miami to the conference.
