I said we needed one a long time ago... if the bitch loads of "vote for.... " threads arent reasoning enough, people could actually discuss what they want done. There are a bitch load of Senators and other SG on here....

agreed, and if not a Student Government forum, then an Extra-Curricular activities forum. that would at least cover all the clubs that post here asking for attendance.
3/17/2003 12:52:06 PM
^^^That's a really good idea...that would be pretty beneficial
3/17/2003 1:03:51 PM
actually.. yes, I like the idea of an extra-curricular forum better! Serves a lot more students that dont give a damn about SG, but still gives a place outside (soap box, lounge, chit chat) to talk about issues.
3/17/2003 1:09:13 PM
maybe just a temporary forum that will be deleted (or only available to premium members) after the elections.
3/17/2003 4:34:56 PM
yea, I'd definitely say wait until after the elections...that way it starts off clean with student organization related stuff...
3/17/2003 5:34:05 PM
^^^good idea Callip! and Crystallia...it would be great if clubs who were holding special events or were trying to recruit members had a forum here.
3/18/2003 12:15:09 AM
I think last time this was brought up it was said they just didnt want to have to deal with it... if this still holds true, is there anything we can do to help it happen?
3/18/2003 1:01:13 AM
the soap box and the lounge are more than sufficient for student election related threads...like was said before, if there was a student gov. forum the only people that would go into it would be members of student government
3/18/2003 8:23:10 AM
^^ I agree with timswar (yipes, that's scary).SG should work on developing their own forums at http://students.ncsu.edu.Crystallia's idea is good, but only if there was someway to legitimate the student organization. I imagine a lot of "new student organizations" being made up if they opt to make it just a regular forum...hmm...like the "Does she bone?" society or something. As a way for this to be financially viable for CrazyJ and Joe, perhaps they could make an forum for Extracurricular Activities where only student organization presidents (who register to get a premium account) could start threads.
3/18/2003 12:07:17 PM
are you suggesting that a "does she bone?" society wouldn't be valuable to this campus? I think the presidents-only thread starting idea would be tremendously difficult to work out, with logistics and the high turnover rate of some clubs' leadership. i still think it would be a good idea to have a forum for something like that, though.
3/18/2003 1:22:08 PM
THIS NEW FORUM COULD BE FOR ALL STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS SO PEOPLE CAN FIND OUT WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON AROUND CAMPUS.... JOIN CLUBS... AND GET THE FUCK OFF THE INTERNET ALL DAY!!
3/18/2003 5:25:59 PM
I like this idea, but I can see it being abused if there weren't limits placed on it--that's all I'm saying. I don't want people coming up with random student orgs off tha cuff...I want to make sure that posts about organizations are legitimate.
3/19/2003 12:42:21 AM
perhaps it would simply need a heavy-handed moderator at first so ppl get a sense of what's appropriate and what isn't; as time goes on, it could become more lax and hopefully ppl wouldn't abuse it.[Edited on March 19, 2003 at 1:12 AM. Reason : gninjas]

people auction off the roomates in the classifieds... not sure the difference. But I see what you mean.. but all I am saying, people do that now.. whats different?
3/19/2003 2:49:01 AM
If people are really interested in getting involved, I don't want them to be discouraged by having bogus groups posting in the new section.Shadowrunner suggestion is a good one, I think.
3/19/2003 3:03:55 AM
Honestly, I think SG threads are good for the soap box, simply by not being a Religion or War thread.
3/24/2003 2:16:31 AM
What the fuck is the point of a forum geared toward getting people off the Internet? You silly, stupid hippie.
3/24/2003 2:36:53 AM
^sounds like someone was always picked last for kickball.

We should start a countdown
3/25/2003 4:38:06 PM
there already is one.
3/25/2003 4:40:55 PM
Nah, I don't mind religion, war, or politics thread... But a break in the monotiny is good, yes?
3/25/2003 6:23:49 PM
ha, yeah.. I avoid that forum like the plague though.. too much tossing around ideas that arent even developed... just people whining/bitching about things they dont understand.
