how can we "turn off" the autolink feature, that assumes everytime we put in a URL it creates a link out of it. Sometimes i want to use URLs in examples or code, http:// is automatically inserted at the beginning and it's turned into a link. the pre and code tags don't stop it

when would you ever want to display a web address WITHOUT making it a hyperlink?

tracert www.thewolfweb.com

is a valid command.

tracert http://www.thewolfweb.com

is not.

More to the point, you would NEVER want to display a URL and not make it a link. Makes no sense. HOWEVER, since any server address with "www" is automatically converted, and there are reasons for wanting to display a server address NOT in URL form....

alright, well i geuss it works using the ascii symbols, but i think the code or pre tags should override all that, and nothing between those tags should be interpolated
