Some of you may have heard of this, but printers actually print unique codes onto the paper that we can't see, but which can be scanned and used to identify where the paper was printed from, or at the least the code of the printer (from where you can identify where it was printed).

What I realized is, couldn't this system also be used to work to prevent confidential or copyrighted stuff being copied? If the printer companies collaborated with publishing companies, they could put in some unique codes specifically for this purpose, which if recognized by the printer, could reject your ability to copy the document. I guess digital defeats this but there was a window where this could've worked
