This was going around on Twitter and the podcast sphere about a month ago. TLDR: USAID has funneled nearly $473M to Internews Network, a US-funded NGO that influences global media, supports social media censorship, and operates with opaque funding, political ties, and secretive subsidiaries.

The overseas propaganda arm that did things like destabilize, I mean democratize, Ukraine was turned to domestic issues after Trump was elected.

So, I see a full blown constitutional crisis here. Where the court orders something to be done (or not done), and the executive branch refuses. The court's recourse here will be to order U.S. Marshals to enforce the order, who are controlled by the executive branch. The executive branch will order the U.S. Marshals to ignore the court order.


We will no longer have a country bound by laws at that point.

My wife has been fired from her agency three times in the last 45 days. A court has ordered that she (and others in her position) be rehired for a period of at least two weeks, after which she will be fired a fourth time. It's all very efficient.

We don't know if I'll have my job in six months. The organization I work for is absolutely key to the administration's agenda in a couple of key sectors, and anyone who looked at it for two seconds would say, "We need to keep funding this," but that's about 1.99 seconds longer than DOGE ever thinks about anything. If they can fire all the nuclear bomb guys, they can fire me.

I spend a lot of time in Federal offices; nothing is getting done there. All anybody talks about is who has been fired, who might get fired, what the firing process will look like, what they'll do after they get fired. Very, very efficient.

Most of the DOGE activity is flagrantly illegal, which is why it is involved in (and losing) so many legal challenges. Congress does nothing - it has sent all of two bills to the president since 1/20, one of which was the CR that just passed. Many of the Republicans openly admit that what's happening isn't "strictly speaking constitutional" (I believe those were Thom Tillis' words), but they don't care. Between the total disregard for rule of law and the fatal erosion of state capacity, it is impossible to overstate what a disaster this is for the country. I pray Trump doesn't get to pardon all these people before they can be brought to justice under a future administration.
