I'm not in good enough shape to play tennis, but I'm too high brow to play ping pong

I've been interested in pickle ball, but honestly I've been waiting for it to evolve to jalapeno ball. And I don't even like jalapenos.

Remember how Aerobics got really big in the 80s?Pickleball is Jazzercise. And since Boomers are also in charge of the money, we're doing stuff like this:https://www.cbs17.com/news/local-news/wake-county-news/city-of-raleigh-investing-millions-into-new-pickleball-facility/Took 'em like 40 years to build a city skatepark, tho.

as far as I know, a tennis court can be exactly converted into 4 pickleball courtswhy would you need pickleball specific courtsalso to anyone with experience and knowledge about these kinds of projectswho do they hire to generate the economic figures, cause I see all kinds of city and state projects where you'll have two guys come in, with a big project and funding requirements, what's the process behind all this[Edited on February 24, 2024 at 1:09 PM. They should create a lamed-down version of basketball with half sized courts and 8 ft rims, and call it Cucumberball

I'm overweight and hyper competitive so I cruise around to multiple courts every weekend and talk about it loudly outside the court

Pickleball should be genocided. However, I am happy to play for fun when someone wants me toIt's hate based on principle, nothing personal... as all hate should beHate is somewhat beautiful, when it's like that

My oldest sister and several of my in-laws are suuuuper into it. They all live close to one another and play 4-6x per week for hours at a time. I've played a handful of times with them, and it's pretty fun. I'd probably go with them a lot if I lived near them.I have HS tennis experience and pickleball is waaay easier. If you can play tennis, you'll pick it right up. I jumped in right at about ~2.5 level after getting used to some of the nuances of the game. I do feel like it's more fast-paced just from the smaller court size (running after dead ball, starting the next point, etc) When I go my wife and kids, we'll play pickleball a bit and then finish with some tennis. Talk about messing up your sense of racquet reach

I've been "playing" a bit lately. I put it in quotations because I haven't actually played any racquet sports since freshman year of college so the first two sessions were just trying to struggle a volley together. The third time though, I actually played a few games and had a good time. Never actually played anything serious, but I saw a few pickleball bros who were very serious about it. I rolled up on my e-bike to further cement my elder millennial status.
