Grayson McCall is in a pretty good spot from last year -- somewhat low ADoT, but in a good, slightly above average range of catchable passes. He's basically next to Jack Plummer, who I think was pretty solid at Louisville this year. Neither of the NC State QBs from last season made the list, so a more direct comparison is difficult.

Plummer was fine, which is all I'm asking for at QB at this point. Not explosive, and he wasn't gonna win you games, but very fundamentally solid and not gonna really lose you a game either. Louisville had a good defense, a solid run game, and an ok passing offense and made it to the ACC Champ Game with 1 conference loss and two losses total before post-season. I think we check all those boxes for next season, and wouldn't hate that result.

That is a valid criticism of this chart, but it's also balanced out by the Y axis. Of course someone in a west coast Coryell offense is gonna be far right, but catchable passes -- not completion percentage -- really shows where their talent level is at doing what they're asked, which is the blue line. Grayson is above that average line, so in other words, he's above average at delivering a catchable pass on the average throw he was asked to make.

I feel like a more applicable missing metric is level of competition, sun belt for Mccall vs acc for plummer. The defenders he will play against next season will mostly be a step above what he saw last few years, speed of the game will increase some.

^^ That's also fair. My main takeaway is that some of the guys who got railed for 'holding their teams back' weren't really as bad as their team was, but level of defense is certainly a consideration.

Maybe this is a common take, but my take is not that we have 8 super talented receivers and will have to figure out how to share the ball but that we have 8 decent odds scratch offs which is still way better than having 1 good bet and 7 low odds bets. Just need two of these guys to pop for success

^^ yes that’s definitely a better way of looking at it. Also like 4 of those WRs we’re excited are true freshmen. I don’t expect a ton out of them right away. A couple probably redshirt anyways.


As exciting as Noah Rogers is, he hasn’t played college ball yet so….hes still unproven in that regard.

But yeah we’re upgrading the position…but there’s still some uncertainty around these guys.
