they should do a part two about the divorced dad needing a place to shop and learn to cook on his own and then he finds... publix

That's a great idea, actually. And much more relateable.

Yeah why are we making Chris replacement Dad, what happened to sperm donor dad?

And WTF does this have to do with groceries?

According to YouTube comments, people seem to really love it and many claim it makes them cry. Seriously?! I think it's a bunch of sappy crap that has nothing to do with a grocery store. Except the girl did spill some milk. Perhaps that's what folks are crying over despite the conventional wisdom.

I'd love to see more commercials like this, just having absolutely nothing to do with whatever they're selling

Heads up, it's british too!

Also what the hell was this one lmao
it could be a skit if it was just a bit less professional in the camera work

[Edited on September 11, 2023 at 9:49 AM. Reason : I've always wondered. how does this type of crap get through a studio without someone saying tf?]

She spilled milk, and he said, "that's perfect".

He lied. Chris is a liar. They want you to lie to your children.

^ The kid's like, "finally, something I share with my dead dad: a love of junk food and sloppy eating habits... I'm a chip off the old block!"

So the kid of the dead dad becomes addicted to trash food to emulate his dead dad, gets a simultaneous heart attack and stroke, and dies just like his dead dad did.

Two theories:

1. Chris was being sarcastic and passive-aggressive. He meant it was the opposite of perfect.

2. She didn't actually spill the milk, but just had an uncontrolled / unmeasured add to the bowl.

I prefer theory 1. Seems like typical abusive stepdad behavior.

It's fully available on my TV, I assure you. Wonder why Publix privatized it on the YouTubes. Maybe because it got so much crap in the comments section.

Haha. These commercials are definitely over the top trying to be wholesome. According to Google, a 30 second commercial now costs $105,000 to broadcast.
I use the Publix pharmacy about 4 miles from my house. I say I'm not going to buy anything else while there, but before I know it I have 5 items in my cart and spend another $45. Commercial pays for itself in one week.

Will this air during the Super Bowl?

Hearing kids call adults by their first names really annoys me for some reason. If you are a parent and your kids call you by your first names, I think you failed somehow. I know this is a step dad, but still. . .

Yeah that's why it bothers me whenever emnsk refers to anyone here by their name instead of sir/ma'am

^^

Every time I see it happen it's like a weird shock, and in my head I'm like what did you just say?

Not that my parents would do anything or whatever back in the day, but it was never a thought in my head

^
Sorry, ma'am

I think the only time I've ever seen this ad is when I watched the embedded video above. That's what you get, The Coz, for intentionally misrepresenting your online presence to YouTube's algorithm by not logging in!
