Did any of you use webassign before NC state sold it off to cengage?

Was it free for us then? was it better?

I feel like it was free and didn't have any extra fees tied into textbooks or tuition, but I graduated in '07, man!

I used webassign from my dorm laptop and it seemed to work fine without any qualms.

I used WebAssign from 2002 to 2006.

The below makes it sound like it was spun off as an independent company around that same time, though still located on campus. I had John Risley as a physics professor.

I used it, sure.

Right after I graduated, some idiot who worked for WebAssign posted a thread in Study Hall offering to tamper with WebAsssign submissions for money. Risley fired him for it.

I remember when webass was new, and I hated it. Chemistry was the first class for it was used, in my case.

Now it costs like 70-100 per class. If it was just a textbook, I have other options, but they tie it in to the graded homework.

Meanwhile the physics department says they can't grade for partial credit on tests cause they don't have enough resources, which makes me wonder how homework was graded before webassign, or if homework was a part of your grade at all.

I wish they could've at least worked out a special deal for nc state students when they sold it off lol
would've been cool

Ha I worked as a question coder in '03 I think. Would copy questions from text books then put the formulas and variables in for randomization.

Don't miss using that in school

Used webassign for free in both hs and college from 01-08ish

Wild that they're making individual students pay for it now instead of doing some sort of institutional license.

Can you still find all of the webassign questions/answers on Yahoo Answers?

I haven't see any on yahoo answers, but most are usually available on one site or the other with the numbers slightly changed
