Baby Boomers (and probably the prior generations)quit wondering why we all hate working these days due to wages not being adjusted for cost-of-living, subpar working conditions, and other factors Generation Xers - a lot of times are very unkempt, emit a noxious odor, and a lot of bullies came from that generationI guess bullying is obviously still a problem, but I feel like more of that generation had the general bullying trait than subsequent onesIDK

Generations are arbitrary and capricious. By the numbers, I'm a Millennial, but I don't identify with this generation.

Gen ZThey love conformity and being told what to do, but this instinct is also the basis of them striving to be accepting of everyone

MillennialsWe think we solved the major cultural issues on society, but are as reactionary to new trends as boomers, which makes us worse in a way

I don't think generations are arbitrary at all. They certainly don't define every individual, but they definitely have an impact at the macro trend level across populations. There are a couple of books by dudes named Strauss and Howe that are interesting. Generations, and The 4th Turning.

I don't think it's fair to criticize previous generations, especially if we're going to do it by today's standards.

The problem is that you can't criticize just one generation. Whatever flaws one cohort has are ultimately the responsibility of the previous cohort or two, which raised them. It's the classic Boomer whining about how Millennials all got participation trophies. Guess what there, gramps, we weren't giving the trophies to ourselves. You guys were the ones handing those out. But, in keeping with the spirit of the thread, Generation X's nihilistic apathy probably ruined our last real chance to undo the damage done by the Boomers, which will ultimately lead to the collapse of America if not human civilization entirely.
