7/5/2006 is the day I got back to NC and flushed my stash of pills, and went to treatment the next day.

So today makes 17 years since I've taken any illegal drugs. I also quit alcohol. I didn't have a problem with that, but alcohol only has downsides.

That shit was hard, and I had help. The experience made me believe that detoxing opiate users in jail without medical supervision is beyond cruel and unusual punishment.

That's all I have to say about that. TWW is my diary.

One of my friends got sober and is more pleasant to be around, except lsd has sort of made them weirder over the years

I have another friend that got sober for medical reasons, and went from being a fairly calm extrovert to a boring Introvert

Overall though I’d say most of my older millennial cohorts are drinking way too much and heading to major health issues by their 50s

And to everyone else who posted here, thanks for being nice... But I don't deserve praise for finally doing what I should have. I had help available, no excuse to not do it.

And to any junkies or pillheads out there... No disrespect, but the game has changed. If you won't get help, at least keep some narcan nearby, and test your shit with fentanyl test strips to lessen the chance you need the narcan. Going from high af straight into precipitated withdrawal sounds like a bummer.
