How long until family members don’t comment on the “plethora” of mixed raced family commercials during the holiday get togethers?

LOL. My family has essentially stopped commenting. But it's pretty noticeable. Another question is when companies will stop over-representing this scenario. Is that how we'll know we've arrived at racial harmony?

I always ask "why exactly does that bother you?" They usually stfu after that. Interracial marriage has only been fully legal in all states for 55 years, so...I guess it's a thing people should be marketing to.

my sister is high up in advertising/buying and said she had a meeting to look at prospective ads from some big company (state farm, wells fargo?) and absolutely none of them featured any white people

GO BACK AND ADD WHITE FOLKS, HOSS.

I truly have no issue with the ads and don't spend much time thinking about them, but the corporate overcorrection seems a little comically obvious, and of course it feeds the real trolls of society.

it's funny to me to see white people feel under-represented these days and complain about it. it's like..."see??? this is what we've been talking about this whole time!!!"

so while there's a part of the population that sees overcorrection, there's another part that's like "finally!"

it's still really just in ads though. most major movies and shows are still predominantly white. you wanna see more white??? upgrade to the ad-free version.

I think it's possible to comment and discuss on TWW without it being a complaint. My commentary is really more a slam on overly transparent corporate marketing agendas. But if it makes historically underrepresented groups feel better, then keep up the good work. I'm not sure that swinging the pendulum well beyond actual societal ratios can successfully undo years of underrepresentation.
