welcome to Charlotte, Baker Mayfieldtotally fine by me, especially for as cheap as we got him for
7/6/2022 1:48:05 PM
best QB we've had since Cam
7/6/2022 2:09:25 PM
Glad we got Cleveland to pay $10.5m for him to play for us
7/6/2022 2:20:56 PM
LMAO at paying Darnold whatever they're paying him to end up being the 3rd string qb.
7/6/2022 3:12:20 PM
Baker is fine. Whatever. Baker is better than Darnold and we gave up very little to get him. Hard to be upset about that. But my contention all along has been that Baker doesn’t suddenly make this a 11-6 playoff team. With a healthy CMC and a healthy Baker…what’s the ceiling for this team….9-8? Maybe I’m just being deeply pessimistic. Just feels like the Panthers are stuck in this unfortunate in between space of not quite tanking but also definitely not competing for the playoffs either. Maybe Baker changes that. I don’t really want to tank. But they’ve also had 3 straight top 10 picks. Could’ve just sucked ass for another year and then been in position to draft a top QB in 2023 draft with a potential top 5 ish pick[Edited on July 6, 2022 at 3:51 PM. Reason : A]
7/6/2022 3:49:55 PM
Yeah we definitely have a ceiling, partly because of team construction, but also partially because we've got a really tough schedule this coming year. I think this is mostly a desperation pick by Rhule to save his bacon. Like everyone else, though, I don't hate it. I personally really like Corrall, and this deal ends after this season, so I like the timing of it too.
7/6/2022 4:33:35 PM
^^^Pretty sure Darnold will be the 2nd string QB and will not be behind Matt Corrall on the depth chart.]
7/6/2022 5:46:01 PM
7/6/2022 6:11:04 PM
^^obviously i am not being serious, but Darnold is absolutely terrible. Like he's shown nothing on the field in 4 years that demonstrates he can ever be a competent NFL player. From ESPN:
7/6/2022 6:20:11 PM
No team would pick up his contract so might as well keep him. That way Corrall can develop without any pressure to play.
7/6/2022 6:57:02 PM
Just mainly loling at the they think it will make Darnold better part. And also at them not being worried it could backfire.
7/6/2022 7:34:32 PM
How would it backfire? I’m not even sure what this trade backfiring would even look like.
7/6/2022 8:31:56 PM
Yeah…a starting QB for 5M/year is a steal
7/6/2022 8:38:47 PM
I mean they can't get any worse than Darnold starting. Unless him and Mayfield got into a big fight and injured each other for the year, forcing the Panthers to sign Ryan Finley
7/6/2022 8:49:10 PM
I hope he keeps making commercials so panthers get more national exposure. Dude in total wine had newton panthers jersey on other day. Was nice to chat with fellow panthers fan when living in a sea of cowgirls
7/7/2022 12:28:47 AM
sick burn
7/7/2022 12:46:38 AM
I can’t imagine a more insufferable twat

7/12/2022 11:19:22 AM
I've been impressed by the way Baker's handled all the mudslinging the Browns have done since he left, seems to be handling it pretty maturely.
7/13/2022 8:03:40 AM
Finally they gave us the all black Uniform[Edited on July 19, 2022 at 10:17 AM. Reason : .]
7/19/2022 10:16:49 AM
Love it
7/19/2022 2:36:46 PM
now they need to replace their ugly blue jerseys with a silver one and wear all silver.
7/19/2022 3:44:37 PM
the blue ones they wore against the Cowboys on Thanksgiving were much better than the normal blue alternatesit is a bit funny to me that they’ve finally gone with the black helmet that fans have always wanted going into a season in which expectations are pretty low
7/19/2022 4:13:23 PM
^ What was different about those blue jerseys vs the usual ones? I was under the impression the only difference for that game was the blue pants.
7/19/2022 4:21:03 PM
they looked much better with the blue pantsnothing is worse than the blue jersey/black pants combo, though
7/19/2022 4:23:40 PM
Yeah the "color rush" bullshit was literally just their regular blue jerseys with blue pants.I think the new helmet looks pretty cool, but I am also a big fan of helmets and jerseys not being the same color. I like the contrast. Would like to see this with the road uniforms Like i can't think of a single instance of a football team wearing matching helmet+jersey+pants colors and thinking WOW THIS LOOKS GOOD. [Edited on July 19, 2022 at 5:27 PM. Reason : People should pay me for my opinions on sports uniforms]
7/19/2022 5:14:51 PM
and as someone who was never a fan of the blue alternates, I thought they looked a million times better with blue pants

Not sure where to put thisMore chaos at Tepper SportsCOO Mark Hart Resignshttps://www.wbtv.com/2022/07/19/tepper-sports-entertainment-coo-resigns-source-says/Tepper Sports & Entertainment pulls ouf of Eastland Mall Redevelopmenthttps://www.thestate.com/sports/nfl/article263676168.htmlWith the Training Facility breaking down and this project being scrapped by TSE, this was where Charlotte FC was going have their HQ and Training Ground. This seems like the opening moves to move both teams. Logically the only locales that could support an NFL Team and MLS Team would be St Louis or San Antonio. Tepper wants a Super Bowl and he isn't going to get it in Charlotte due to lack of hotel rooms near the stadium.
7/21/2022 8:25:28 AM
While I'm not sure what conclusion I'd go to with those combined moves, I'm not sure I'd go to moving the team just yet. According to reports at the time of the purchase, the main reason Tepper got the bid and not home-grown man Peter Navarro was cause Tepper pledged to keep the team in Charlotte while Navarro wanted to relocate to SC. Not sure how true that is or how much a pledge means to Tepper, but worth keeping in mind.
7/21/2022 10:29:50 AM
This guy is a fucking snake, pretty sure a non-binding pledge isn't gonna keep him from doing whatever he wants.
7/21/2022 12:32:42 PM
7/21/2022 1:31:01 PM
That said I don't really see him moving the team, even if the city (hopefully) refuses to pay for a shiny new retractable roof stadium(literally the biggest waste of money imaginable.) The stadium is a bigger issue regarding the super bowl than the hotels. But if he wants a fucking retractable dome that stays closed 100% of the time like Atlanta, let him pay for it. Fuck welfare for billionaires.I think all his blunders with Rock Hill and troubles within the corporate side of his businesses will make other cities wary of him as well]
7/21/2022 3:29:07 PM
he’s the richest owner in the league call his bluff, and if he leaves, he leaves stadiums are nothing but a dick measuring contest, anywaysthere is absolutely nothing wrong with BOA. if he wants a new stadium, he can pay for it
7/21/2022 5:48:15 PM
also he's owned the team for an incredibly short time, so i doubt he's made enough friends among the other owners to get the votes to move.
7/21/2022 5:56:40 PM
in the middle of Mark Leibovich’s “Big Game”, and it’s pretty clear that owners respect seniority more than anything, other than profitability, obviously it’s the ultimate Good Old Boys Club
7/21/2022 8:31:57 PM
If I wanted to measure my dick, I’d be like “hey, I am paying for this new roof. I am rich AF”But that’s me
7/22/2022 3:59:59 AM
^ I agree with you in principle, but unfortunately I've read that structurally BoA doesn't have the infrastructure for a retractable roof -- those things are crazy heavy and place huge loads/moments on the building. A permanent roof *could* work, but as I understand it that's the one thing everyone agrees on: no roof is better than only roof.
7/22/2022 8:07:53 AM
retractable roofs are pointless. literally the worst option for any stadium. all they do is add >$1 billion to the cost all so they can play all the games with it closed. they're just a billionaire dick measuring contest.
7/22/2022 12:09:07 PM
Yes, unless you want to host a super bowl and you're not New OrleansWhich, personally, I could care less about hosting one. I agree with you, I don't want a dome. But I'd bet on having a stadium with one in some shape or form in the next 10 years.[Edited on July 25, 2022 at 11:12 AM. Reason : ed]
7/25/2022 11:11:52 AM
If they want to build a dome, fine build a dome. But don't waste money on a retractable dome that will never be opened for a game. Especially if the city/state pay even 1 dime for it.
7/25/2022 11:22:21 AM
Nah, domes are the cowards way to play football
7/26/2022 8:12:10 AM
Breaking: Matt Rhule is still an idiot
8/4/2022 12:38:36 PM
Yeah, how dare a rookie learn the position at the highest level instead of being forced into action in training campThey drafted him to be the left tackle of the future, not the left tackle in the first preseason game]
8/4/2022 12:50:49 PM
Yeah so put the guy who was bad at it last year in front of him! Great thinking!Football really isn't rocket science. Being an offensive lineman doesn't massively change from college to the NFL.
8/4/2022 1:32:27 PM
yeah, lining up in week 1 against Myles Garrett and Jadaveon Clowney is just like facing Wake Forest
8/4/2022 1:58:14 PM
Obviously not, but if the guy you drafted as the first OT taken can't start for you when you added no one else to a terrible offensive line (and multiple other rookie OTs are getting starter reps in their respective camps) something is wrong.
8/4/2022 3:46:28 PM
I realize Ruhle has plenty of things to question, but this seems like a complete non story, that a rookie is being treated like a rookie in July and August.
8/4/2022 4:25:25 PM
Look at this guy, who thinks Ickey sucks!!!
8/4/2022 4:40:41 PM
Didn’t Jordan Gross practice opposite Julius Peppers? I feel like that point has got to lend itself to one of you.
