who was president in 2008 when I was paying $4/gallon?
3/3/2022 8:10:51 PM
^Dick Cheney
3/3/2022 9:06:50 PM
What a petty thing for people to be fixated on. And even stupider to think that the President is a primary driver of gas prices in either direction.Snewf, just quit anti-social media completely. You'll be happier and will be presented with less overt evidence of the stupidity and callousness of your peers.
3/3/2022 9:30:39 PM
The gas price is always the president’s fault (unless it’s a Republican President).
3/4/2022 7:04:42 AM
Yes, I know, but that doesn't make it true.
3/4/2022 7:57:43 AM
^^I like when I make a joke like that on social media, that is obviously sarcastic, and the people who 'like' it are so dumb they actually believe that in 08 it wasn't the President's fault but this year it IS the President's fault
3/4/2022 10:36:16 AM
Certainly not price gouging by oil companies let me just check XON trends
3/4/2022 10:54:20 AM
Alls I know is gas weren't this expensive under Trump!#NOTMYPRESIDENT!
3/4/2022 10:55:16 AM
^^It's been XOM since at least 1999. You old!
3/4/2022 11:01:03 AM
yeah I should just quit for goodit's all partisan bullshit from smooth brains
3/4/2022 11:35:32 AM
Quit and don't look back. It just makes everyone mad (for different reasons).

As a work from home person I don’t care about the price of gasBut I feel for unfortunate wretches who this impacts
3/4/2022 1:17:30 PM
I currently drive 100 miles a day. It fucking sucks. And paying more for the pleasure sucks. But I occasionally like to think I'm not fucking retarded so I place the blame squarely on the oil companies. Either way, I don't go around bitching about it. I also don't drive a 3 ton road legal tank that gets 3 gallons to the mile to make up for my tiny dick. I accept my tiny dick and move on with my life.

3/4/2022 1:53:53 PM
^^That’s 4-5 gallons of gasWorst case about $10 more per day$50 more per week$200 per month in gas, that does suck
3/4/2022 6:31:28 PM
Spent $281 on gas just for commuting in February Without looking, I think I got unlucky with timing and filled up on the 1st and 28th, too. Anyway, I get anywhere between 30-35mpg depending on the weather.[Edited on March 4, 2022 at 11:14 PM. Reason : ]
3/4/2022 11:09:54 PM
44 MPG vehicle lifetime average right hurr. Not a hybrid. Got the light foot.
3/5/2022 7:37:00 AM
I think I spent $200-300 on gas in February but I went on a fucking road trip in a rented F-150oh yeah and I'm counting what I poured into my generator which I ran all day for several days[Edited on March 5, 2022 at 9:14 AM. Reason : -]
3/5/2022 9:13:43 AM
Compared to Ukraine, that sounds weak
3/5/2022 10:59:54 PM
I'm gonna go driving on the OBX for a week now and I won't complain about the price of gas.

what does this thread have to do with the price of rice in China
6/6/2022 5:42:11 PM
I got a hybrid pickup and I'm enjoying life
6/6/2022 11:22:17 PM
Fuck mpg, i want to know ppm(price per mile)I pay about .14666667 per mile here in texas. Bet snewf pays .121794 per mile in NC. I am jelly. Gas probably 8% higher where he is yet he pays about 18% less per mile. If he lived here in TX, he’d pay 23% less driving a truck vs my 4 banging hyundai. Jelly!
6/7/2022 2:08:35 AM
How many people can run out and buy a hybrid or electric vehicle though? If we're gonna push electric cars, we're gonna need some grid updates first.
6/7/2022 8:38:06 AM
Are hybrids really that much more expensive? All cars are stupid expensive, I do know that.
6/7/2022 9:56:55 AM
plenty of Priuses on craigslist for under 10k
6/7/2022 12:26:28 PM
my Ford Maverick was $30k with all the bells and whistlesbase price was $20k
6/7/2022 12:38:09 PM
I don't bitch about anything on social media, because that's what morons do, but this administration isn't doing anything to ramp up domestic production of fossil fuels, and in fact is doing just the opposite. It is killing the trucking industry and will eventually disrupt our supply chain when trucking companies start dying off.
6/7/2022 1:15:21 PM
It's almost like transitioning away from fossil fuels was part of the platform or something
6/7/2022 1:31:27 PM
Yeah well the infrastructure isn't quite there to transition away. Not even for personal vehicles let alone diesel tractors.
6/7/2022 1:50:45 PM
^^^why should the administration have to do anything to increase domestic production, the high price will incentivize new entrants to the market
6/7/2022 2:08:15 PM
We only like free market capitalism when it works to our advantage. We need BIG GOVERNMENT SOCIALISM to keep the prices down when filling up our massively inefficient vehicles!]
6/7/2022 2:34:07 PM
^^Because of all of the regulations regarding refineries?
6/7/2022 2:46:51 PM
The environment doesn't matter. Pump the emissions right into my living room. I just need cheap gas.
6/7/2022 2:53:56 PM
I watched the first of a 3-part PBS Frontline series on the Power of Big Oil last night. It was very eye-opening:https://www.pbs.org/video/the-power-of-big-oil-part-one-denial-redxh6/
6/7/2022 2:54:10 PM
6/7/2022 4:05:24 PM
^I get that, but unless it's forced, we're never going to have a comprehensive strategic infrastructure plan
6/7/2022 4:11:44 PM
^^OK, but you think cutting regulations on Big Oil is the way to cheap gasoline? Pricing is multifaceted. There would be no better outcome from this current situation than for people to realize that being beholden to the fossil fuel industry as well as to dictators and despots who control the flow of raw materials and the market pricing is not a good thing, and we should seriously look at alternatives INCLUDING the infrastructure upgrades required to make them a practical reality.Because the argument you're using is the same one I hear Boomers using to rationalize why we shouldn't switch away from fossil fuels. "I have nothing against it, but it simply isn't ready." Well, no shit. Maybe if we stopped subsidizing fossil fuels at every level of government and committed to making them largely obsolete as a fuel source (they can remain at a lower level as a practical chemical feedstock), and instead directed that funding to clean energy research and infrastructure investment, and maybe if oil companies didn't have well over a century of crushing any competitor to their dominance, then we'd be in a better position. Meanwhile, we can all take a dose of pain together to get to a better place. Unfortunately, we lack the collective will to do it. Even when gas was (relatively) cheap, buying a hugely inefficient vehicle was a stupid and irresponsible decision.
6/7/2022 4:35:09 PM
6/7/2022 4:57:41 PM
Republicans and manchin killed chunks of em in the infrastructure bill and by blocking BBB.Biden released supplies from our strategic reserves.
6/7/2022 5:43:04 PM
^^This is the result of business as usual. Yes, they should get tax breaks or other incentives, but with Republicans (and Coal Joe) that sort of thing is dead on arrival. Quite frustrating. We could be setting global standards, but nope.
6/7/2022 7:17:28 PM
Five! . . . Five Dollar! . . . Five Dollar Gas Bitching! . . .I filled up Thursday for $4.399, suckers!I like to think of it as my personal contribution to global warming and LIV Golf.]
