Looks like one of NCSU's own Proud Boys took to self-immolation last night. Chadwick Seagraves from OIT got into an altercation with a neighbor on his front porch after reportedly yelling "Fuck Joe Biden" multiple times and then hit the neighbor with his gun. Police were called and Chadwick locked himself in the house and proceeded to set it on fire. The house burned down and a body was later discovered inside.

Yea tried to see if I can find much of anything about him on here, but did not have a lot of luck so figured I'd just make a new post. Pretty crazy situation all around. Also there is a gofundme for his wife and kid that are over $9k already. I'm guessing that life insurance and homeowners insurance doesn't pay for shit in this situation since he killed himself and took everything with him.

Life insurance usually does cover suicide as long as you’ve had the policy a certain amount of time.

Interesting that he was suicidal but not homicidal. Wonder if there are more of these nuts in the wings who might be homicidal about politics especially as they see the coup failing…

^^Most of these guys are the "rugged individualists" and "not a liberal pussy" so they don't talk about their feelings. Best case they might speak to their preacher, but usually it is an anonymous prayer request at most.

My wife's family is like this. She was never given the opportunity for therapy growing up (combo of being lower middle class and strong religious beliefs so you just pray your problems away). Since we've been together she has had pretty regular therapy and it has helped her out so much. We even took some couples therapy over a decade ago so that I could better understand her situation and how to better cope and respond to her.

I wonder what the timing was of this, did she leave him and then he got radicalized or did she leave because he got radicalized? Lot of these Proud Boy/QAnon types give off either the divorced guy vibes or are straight up incels. I had several interactions with him online that were all normal/pleasant in regards to work stuff. Probably only actually saw him 2-3 times ever, spoke to him for the only time in person that I can recall at a "welcome back to the office" event we had this summer and it was more of the same. Came across as a friendly guy, but clearly had a lot of issues and shit going on.

I met him about ~8 years ago in a professional capacity. Hung out at badawings in a group a few times.

My perception matches bbhee's except the constant chewing tobacco was really gross. I vaguely recall finding him a little weird and hard to talk to too, but he was generally liked by the group and my boss at the time

That was gleaned from the comments on the ABC11 Facebook article about it. Some of his neighbors were on there talking about what precipitated the police being called and the subsequent fire. They also name dropped him, so that was where I found out so early Sunday morning and posted about it.

I live in joco. School Board has had weird stuff going on the last few years (not even just mask/Covid stuff). I don’t expect this dude to win (hadn’t heard of him before now) but nothing would surprise me anymore.
