Do you think it should happen after he leaves office. Do you think that it will happen?

Yes. Yes.

Should it happen? Hell yes. Will it? God I hope so. I’m not sure what SDNY is looking into him for, but I fear it’s nothing that will put him behind bars, which is what needs to happen.

I had assumed SDNY and the NY AG were looking at him for tax and bank fraud, but I am not sure.

So if you're the NY AG and you can pin some low to mid level felony on Trump and/or members of his family - likely some sort of tax or financial crime - do you prosecute? Why or why not? What are the considerations?

It should happen if and when enough evidence is gathered to charge with a crime (presuming there actually is evidence), irrespective (in my opinion) of whether he's still in office or not. Best I can tell, Volume 2 of the Special Counsel Report certainly has evidence for at least 10 counts of obstruction of justice. I'd start there.

I'm 50/50 on whether it actually will happen. Going to be very interesting how things play out over the next couple months. I still think it's entirely likely Biden pulls a Ford and pardons him completely.

I very highly doubt Biden would pardon (and would be fucking pissed if he did), but I’d say there’s a decent chance he attempts to pardon himself before the end

It's almost laughable to think of Biden pardoning Trump after all he did to his family, let alone destroying the country. If anything, Biden will do his best to keep everything hush hush and let the SDNY do their thang, but he'd be the first person to put a bullet in Trump's brain if he could guarantee he'd get away with it.

Everyone kept talking about how Biden was terrified of debating Trump, but he held his own. I kept telling y'all it was the other way around and that Trump was scared shitless of Biden, but I'm trying to be a better person and I'll just leave it at that.

"I told you so, but I won't get into it"

Don't get me wrong UJW I'm glad you're back I'm glad (almost) everyone is back! But you're posting style is very weird and since you've been back ha been almost exclusively trying to brag about things you were right about that either weren't that controversial and/or you were barely even right. Interesting tactic!

I'm not saying you're wrong but I think a lot of people are underestimating the consideration for "national unity" and "national healing" that would be given by someone like Biden if he were weighing the pros/cons of a pardon. Whether he's guilty or not, and I do believe there is abundant evidence that he is, his public support is so strong that you could make the argument prosecuting him - even properly and with good reason - would tear the country further apart.

I think a huge chunk of Americans are so woefully ignorant about politics and the government that it's going to take some time for them to slowly wake up and see what actually happened.

Right now I can tell you that pretty much none of my students care that Biden won because they're either dealing with their hours cut or having to deal with COVID directly.

They don't care that Rudy has COVID or that Barr is possibly going to resign before Trump fires him. They don't even know who they are. It's internet noise mostly.

Trump is reportedly NOT doing anything presidential right now and he knows he lost, but he's delusional/insane thinking he could really win in 2024. He gaslit the country AND himself so well, he probably is just glad he can host more rallies and pull one last grift.

My hope is that the experts behind scenes are working to stage a TV scene where Trump boards a plane thinking he's headed to Florida, when it's really to Gitmo.

It doesn't even amount to internet noise. I think only a tiny minority are even aware of most of the important goings-on, and fewer still grasp the significance.
