It was slow to get going but ended up being good. I had to break it up and was disappointed after the first leg.

I watched this over 4 viewings I think...if you liked it, can you please tell me what’s good about it? Why is it so high on RT?Going in I was thinking it was supposed to be the black perspective on the war, which is a great idea...about halfway through I’m really just thinking to myself, “what am I not getting here?”Like, some parts were just laughably bad, like the dude walking backwards for literally 52 steps giving everyone in the world the signal he was about to step on a land mine. I don’t want to call it bad acting, but something was just really off to me

I enjoyed the first half of it...but it went sideways when the guy goes off the trail to take a shit then finds the gold while digging his shitter hole. And yeah the walking backwards into a mine thing was obvious.Movie critic friend of mine says some of Spike Lee's work isn't as accessible as some other directors...perhaps that's the stuff I didn't enjoy as much in the second half.]

I thought it was artistically just a movie about PTSD and loved how he showed the many manifestations of it especially the MAGA aspect and how they are constantly reliving the war as their current selves but the dead blood is still young.

I thought it was entertaining. but yea the finding the gold whilst diggin a shitter, and the 2 land mine scenes(one where he's backing up and the one with the son being pulled off with the rope lmao) were kinda dopey.
