This shit never ends

You hate James Cameron? His 3D technique? He is good at combining the most advanced computer graphics with a traditional story line.
6/8/2020 10:22:31 AM
At least they changed to a different font. Papyrus is the worst font ever created.Although, I guess it was a conscious decision to use a terrible font for a terrible movie.

6/8/2020 2:55:26 PM
I just can't see this succeeding from a financial standpoint.
6/8/2020 3:00:17 PM
^^ Avatar and Titanic are the arguably two best movies he ever makes, at least they made records of box office income.
6/8/2020 3:16:08 PM
I would say they're his two greatest films solely by box office, obviously subjective though.
6/8/2020 5:45:22 PM
They are. They are the top 2 most popular Hollywood films ever exported to China.
6/8/2020 5:58:01 PM
Right, that's what I'm saying. In my opinion, they're not his two highest quality films in terms of story, directing, etc. Box Office though, yeah that's undeniable
6/8/2020 6:05:38 PM
True Lies is a cinematic masterpiece
6/8/2020 6:05:48 PM
^ It absolutely is.It's just hard for me to appreciate Avatar, it had a very cookie cutter story and the acting was just okay. It felt more like a tech demo than an actual good movie. I only saw it on DVD and not on IMAX, so maybe that was part of the issue? They story was literally just Fern Gully/Dances with Wolves.
6/8/2020 6:21:51 PM
Damn I hate agreeing with bbehe, but yeah avatar is just dances with wolves + fern gully where everything is blue.
6/8/2020 6:27:18 PM
I never saw it (or Titanic). Seemed too gimmicky or something.
6/8/2020 6:29:58 PM
It's right up there with the Matrix for most overhyped movie ever.
6/8/2020 6:43:10 PM
it's not memorable at all, but it will make a lot of bank in china where they eat up high spectacle/low substance movies
6/8/2020 7:06:34 PM
6/8/2020 7:23:19 PM
It's like Dance With Wolves on Pandora

Waterworld is basically garbage except the nude scene.
6/9/2020 11:46:12 AM
There is a lot of shit going on in the world right now. I’d appreciate if you could leave blaspheming Water World out of this.

^ Avatar II has being filmed for a while. The young crew is for the future whole series.Entire team:
6/9/2020 3:20:16 PM
Well what I was getting at is that what if it flops? It likely won't just because it has James Cameron's name on it but planning that many sequels with this young cast looks like it is trying to be a sci-fi/nature version of Harry Potter where the second movie came out like 11 years later.Who from the original movie is planned to be in it?[Edited on June 9, 2020 at 5:08 PM. Waterworld was the most expensive movie ever when it was made. Yet you're saying it wasn't overhyped? Ok.
6/9/2020 8:15:26 PM
I'm not quite sure what that has to do with anything. Just because it's expensive, doesn't mean people were looking forward to it or remember it fondly. It tanked at the box office, the production of it was made fun of for going over budget/running late/the director quitting leading up to the release, the reviews were shitty. No one was chomping at the bit to see it when it came out and it didn't really get a cult following afterwards. If you're not doing either of those things, you can't be overhyped
6/9/2020 8:52:43 PM
In the early 90s when it was being filmed and marketed, it was being hyped up pretty widely, for the star power, the budget, etc. I don't know of anyone in the last 20+ years that has hyped it up, but at the time, it was a pretty big deal.
6/9/2020 9:04:01 PM
I wonder if the land at the end was mount everest

^I meant like HP in that it has a young cast that grows up with the movies and that in this case the second one is coming out 11 years later.I don't know if the Terminator series is something you want to compare it to. The first two Terminator movies were some of the best movies in their respective genres but everything after T2 is pretty awful. As for Star Wars, there is absolutely no way the Avatar series will ever reach the same level of popularity.
6/10/2020 10:17:06 AM
T3 and the latest T6 are still solid, at least for me. And Cameron will make two more Ts. So he's gonna be back and take it over again. Also you can't guarantee the new Avatars are not awful either.Have you ever been to Disney World in Orlando? In Animal Kingdom, they have built a themed area inspired by the film called Pandora – The World of Avatar. It's as popular as Star Wars themed area in Hollywood Studios.
6/10/2020 10:38:32 AM
You are just trolling at this point if you are basing popularity between the two franchises on how crowded their respective areas are in theme parks. Star Wars has been a worldwide phenomenon since 1977 and pretty much changed science fiction cinema forever.
6/10/2020 6:03:37 PM
I said potentially. It’s a bold prediction for the next decade. Nobody knows what will happen in the future. The young crew has reflected Cameron’s ambition.
6/11/2020 9:16:27 AM
I agree that this is like a sci-fi HP series. Remember HP has an themed area in Universal Studios too. But it’s more like Odd Squad colonizing Pandora.
6/11/2020 1:05:55 PM
Avatar had some of the best special effects of the timeAs for the movie, I liked it better the first time I saw it, it was called Fern Gully
6/11/2020 8:01:13 PM
6/11/2020 8:58:46 PM
I want them to explore other planets
6/11/2020 9:19:23 PM
Sure. Mars, moon, etc. They can change their plots at any time.
