I usually book hotels for my team members since they don't have credit cards. I have a corp card so not too concerned about fraud/extra charges.I'd like to get the hotel points for their stays. Can i book the hotel under my name and "add guest" and everything be ok?In the past, i put it on their name.

I doubt they could check in if booked under your nameI also think most hotels say you actually have to be there to earn pointsNot 100% sure about either

from my experience the person booking can put the reservation under their rewards number, but the guest can change the reward numberi don't know if that's true for all chains

I would just call the reservation in to be sure until you get the hang of it.If you're paying for the stays then you should easily get the points, but ask to confirm.[Edited on February 13, 2020 at 12:12 PM. Reason : You can make all the reservations in your name and add their names as check-in name in the notes etc]

Maybe your team members would appreciate the points too. Seems a jerk thing to do if they're trying to accumulate some points to get a free hotel stay here or there or other hotel rewards. Now if they don't care at all about it, I'd be all for trying to give them to someone who would use them rather than lose them.

is the cc they pay with in their name? If not you probably could send a cc authorization form and pay for their room and earn points. One person I work with accumulates many points doing just that.[Edited on February 13, 2020 at 8:45 PM. Reason : Just reread post...yeah just send a cc auth. Makes easier for coworkers. Worst case they add their #]

I too would like to steal other people's reward points

If I am spending my time traveling for work, I make sure I'm getting personal reward points. Flights, hotels, whatever.Credit card points are another thing. Sure, I prefer them but if a PM pays for a meal and gets the points vs me paying myself and expensing it, no big deal. But I'd be annoyed if someone was wanting to get the reward points for my room. Just my thoughts.

People are free to swap in their loyalty accounts if they give a fuck.If they don't give a fuck then it's a non-issue and y'all are bitching about nothing.

I've heard that in the US it's generally fine to do this but international hotels are generally pickier about the person checking in being the one who made the reservation.

To me this is simple. Book it. Provide the name of the guest. Make $. If traveller inquires offer to conference in to move the points. If not you are good to go.
