Is something I’d expect to hear from my cousins in the redneck parts of NC

The "redneck" parts have people that typically say things like:"Damn, glad that you made it out of this place bro, but thanks for coming to visit. I don't have many friends left, they all died from a heroin overdose.""I got three kids and my new girl is helping me take care of my daughter from my first relationship. Her mom is a crackhead and went to prison.""Kids have made me straighten my act up, but while you were at State I was in a strip club doing nothing but selling coke and fuckin strippers. I never got an STD... that couldn't be cured."

I wish that I had access to the numbers, but it seemed like the ones that didn't become drug addicts went straight to the military.

...and then became drug addicts

it's one thing about this country that kind of bugs me. There is a huge correlation between coming from a republican area or family and going into the military. I think that a lot of good can come from the decision to join one of the armed forces. It isn't like they don't have a lot to offer, and I don't think that this decision should somehow be tied to political affiliation.
