Well, I'm a sucker for anything The Shining; both book and movie. Last night I decided to go see Doctor Sleep.

For some reason I thought Stephen King was involved in the production of the movie; either a director or producer. But I was wrong, Mike Flanagan was the director.

My expectations were realistic going into the movie. Flanagan had his challenges of weaving discrepancies between the Shining book and movie; but he did a decent job. That said, no way was it going to even get close to Kubrick's movie.

I would have waited for it to come to TV if I would have known that King wasn't involved... but Flanagan somehow got Kubrick's estate and King to sign off on this.

So it sucked then? I never read either of the books, but the Shining is one of my favorite horror movies.

Me and my friends all thought this movie was great. Very fitting adaption/continuation of the original source material.
