I am generally curious as to what would happen if a substantial amount of people were to show up to this kind of thing? If it is just a handful of overweight internet nerds doing it for laughs, they'd prob get arrested for trespassing and nothing more.

Not that it would happen, but what if like a hundred people showed up? That is prob too many at once to just slap some handcuffs on and take them to jail until they cool down. How many people would actually have to be there for the military to actually take it seriously? It is an active military base with likely a lot of top secret information, so would they open fire with rubber bullets and tear gas?

Sidenote: I know Area 51 is out in the middle of the desert, so even getting to the legal perimeter of the base would probably be difficult for a lot of people.

Speaking of, when the hell did flights to LAS get so "expensive". I mean, they're not ridiculous. You can get $200 from RDU to LAS, but didn't they used to always have crazy cheap flights? I guess the keywords are "used to" assuming I'm not imagining it to begin with.

^flights in general have been normalizing a lot lately at much higher rates.

We used to fly budget airlines for like $29 each way with a (small) free bag to clearwater and orlando.

Now it's like $125 if you include any luggage at all. Bump that - the risk of waiting 2-3 days for another flight if it rains in florida is too high. 15% more $ and I can fly Delta with 3 flights/day and get a free drink.

I mean, if they end up just shooting these guys I'm sure it will go down as a bad look and be decried as brutality.

But I kind of expect an appropriate military response to attempts to storming a base to be to kill or otherwise neutralize everybody, I mean this shouldn't get compared to police brutality or a protest or anything.
