(this isn't about thinking we won't make the tourney or something, just wanted a place to post schedule news)Just announced we'll open the season at home against GT
3/15/2019 4:23:21 PM
I’m not crazy about the early season ACC games. But at least we get a winnable one vs GT
3/15/2019 4:28:52 PM
Also 20 ACC games next year right? But let’s keep giving tons of weight to OOC SOS
3/15/2019 5:11:47 PM
3/15/2019 6:55:11 PM
11-9 in acc.. Tourney again. Like a 6 or 7 seed tho
3/15/2019 7:01:34 PM
Winnable doesn’t mean guaranteed win. But it’s better than opening up vs UVa
3/15/2019 7:30:18 PM
We know Dorn and Lockett will be gone. I could see Markell leaving to go play in Europe but hope I am wrong. Anyone else that might be gone?
3/15/2019 8:37:03 PM
Harris seems like a transfer candidate

There’s a chance he just wants to be done with school - but as far as I know, I don’t think there’s been any signs that’s he’s gone. Cat Barber had a kid and it was pretty well known he wanted to leave early (plus DSJ was recruited to replace him). Trevor Lacey was a bit of a surprise but he was also a 4th year junior so it made sense kinda. Maybe I’m just being too optimistic but I’m not super worried about Markell
3/15/2019 9:51:48 PM
Eh, I think it's more a sign of the way the NBA works nowadays. I wouldn't think it was odd if Markell left. You aren't typically going to increase your stock during your senior year--they know what you are. And there is a good chance your stock will go down. At minimum you are going to be older, and there is injury risk. I basically assume that most of our good players won't stick around for 4 years.
3/15/2019 10:28:41 PM
guard under 6'3 known for hitting big shots is pretty much the sole position you can improve your draft stock as a senior
3/15/2019 10:39:16 PM
He didn't say the NBA, he said Europe.
3/15/2019 10:45:22 PM
The home opener against Ga. Tech will be a chance at revenge for our last second collapse this year.
3/16/2019 8:15:04 PM
Last second collapse?
3/16/2019 8:18:35 PM
Last second choke
3/16/2019 8:22:17 PM
Can we swap Hellems for Bey? Why did Bey decommit? Anyone know or remember ?
3/16/2019 8:47:53 PM
Braxton fucked his girlfriend. Keatts chose a philanderer over Bey. Typical.
3/16/2019 9:29:27 PM
3/16/2019 9:51:51 PM
I heard Bey got a little spooked by the investigation, but it's total #sources, got no backup for that info
3/16/2019 9:55:59 PM
bey bailed because of the depth chart, the ncaa investigation was just the excuse
3/16/2019 10:57:17 PM
^#sources
3/16/2019 10:59:10 PM
When he left wasn’t Steere already out for the season? If so the only depth he had to overcome was Walker and Funderburk. Seems odd he would leave because of that. Mayne he thought the UK transfer was going to be a star.
3/17/2019 8:43:09 AM
^Steere is the one that transferred, so I think you mean Bates. But Bey got out of his commitment before we knew about Bates’ redshirt. And I believe Bey is more of a wing than a true big man. So he probably wouldn’t have been worried about Walker or Funderburk. He’d have taken Hellems’ minutes I’m guessing.
3/17/2019 8:48:15 AM
Thanks for clearing it up, it is hard to keep up with college basketball rosters these days.
3/17/2019 9:22:02 AM
Yeah Bey is a wing. He'd be in the giant blob of players not named Markell/Funderburk/Walker.
3/17/2019 9:22:22 AM
Looks like we have a game scheduled vs Memphis at the Barclays Center next season.
3/21/2019 10:57:12 AM
So far we have @Auburn, Memphis (neutral), and the B1G game (home?). Just one more P6 then it's 300+ NET home games!
3/21/2019 11:54:19 AM
I must be in the shockingly small percentage of people that isn't paying to see State play Western New Mexico A&M, but am willing to pay to see them play a West Virginia or Ohio State type team instead. You'd think Wolfpack Club and other season ticket holders would eventually get pissed about shelling out money to see games against colleges I'm not sure are real, but obviously they are fine with it.
3/21/2019 1:19:24 PM
Of course it’s fun to play bigger name opponents. But that wasn’t the problem with the OOC schedule this year. It was the bottom teams that dragged us down. We’re never gonna play 4+ P5 teams at home OOC. We’ll play 3-5 every year, a couple might be at home and a couple at neutral sites or on the road. The issue isn’t a lack of big name teams. It’s the lack of mid tier teams that hurts our schedule.I don’t disagree with the sentiment. But we already have UNC, Duke, UVa, and the rest of the ACC om the schedule. We don’t need to play a juggernaut OOC schedule in addition to that. Just don’t play the literal last ranked OOC schedule...and that’s done by trying schedule teams in the 200s and not the 300s
3/21/2019 5:06:49 PM
^^I'm scouring the rest of this thread to figure how your post relates to the discussion at all. Especially since it seems football based?
3/21/2019 5:12:25 PM
s/o to the belmont cheerleader with the full cage knee brace. way to play hurt.
3/21/2019 5:34:00 PM
^^yeah re-reading it, it does seem football related. I just assumed we were still mad about not getting in the tourney and/or complaining about the schedule’s role in that
3/21/2019 5:38:07 PM
The key to a good NCSOS isn't about scheduling a few big P5 opponents and then a few cupcakes, no, this is what Gott was excellent at. Instead of scheduling a few top 75 P5 opponents and some 250+ opponents to pad wins. The better approach is to schedule 1 or 2 top 50 P5 opponents and then a whole bunch of teams ranked 125-200. Pair that with the ACC SOS, and you're going to end up with a SOS in the 50-75 range, and no one would bat an eye at that. So take this year: Mt Saint Mary's(319), UNC-Asheville(350), Maine(335), St Peters(317), Western Carolina(295), USC Upstate(344), Loyola MD(281). Replace them with this: Miami Ohio(146), Coastal Carolina(163), Winthrop(179), Santa Clara(181), William & Mary(193), Charleston Southern(197), Cal St. Fullerton(200). On paper schedule A and B don't look very different based on name value, but from the NET it's drastically better and the overall results(7-0) should be the exact same.
3/22/2019 8:23:57 AM
Auburn looks like a pretty good win...
3/23/2019 11:16:08 PM
apparently we are playing ung-g in the Gthey lose 2 starters including top scorer and top assist guy, but return #2 scorer an top rebounder, plus have two 3*s coming in.
3/24/2019 4:53:52 PM
how much did we beat Harvard by?
3/24/2019 6:53:30 PM
We haven't played Harvard yet
3/24/2019 7:19:32 PM
Lol
3/24/2019 8:15:10 PM
apparently we are playing ung-g in the G
3/24/2019 9:30:30 PM
UNC-G lost their NIT game, so if we win tonight we'll play Lipscomb in ReynoldsBut I see how it was confusing since UNC-G was brought up but it was a post about next year
3/24/2019 9:35:36 PM
derp
3/24/2019 9:37:37 PM
Ya this is the 19-20 thread bruh! Being too much like your namesake smh...[Edited on March 24, 2019 at 9:51 PM. Reason : But to answer your question: 1]
3/24/2019 9:50:51 PM
bold take: no one transfers out in the offseason
3/28/2019 8:24:49 AM
Don't think the fear is people transferring out. Think the concern is people pulling a Trevor Lacey and being tired of playing college ball and just taking the money overseas. Markell, Bryce, and Daniels are all concerns to do this given their age and NBA prospects. We could have a really nice line-up next year if everyone returns and Leque opts for college. Don't think we're lucky enough to get a best-case scenario, but this line-up could be pretty solid next year: PG: Markell, HarrisSG: Beverly, Leque, SeabronSF: Bryce, DanielsPF: Funderburk, HellemsC: Walker, Bates
3/28/2019 8:52:25 AM
3/28/2019 9:10:42 AM
Harris seems like the only real transfer candidate. And Markell would seem to be the only candidate for possibly going pro (ie, he’s proven all he can and is ready to move on) but that is pure speculation and I have no real reason to think that it’s likley to happen
3/28/2019 9:34:25 AM
Harris would be fucked if he transfers again. Can he even? He definitely ain't going pro
3/28/2019 9:41:51 AM
He can transfer...he’d lose a year of eligibility though. Unless he could get some exception from the NCAAIt’d be probably unwise for him to do transfer really.
